The second Matariki Whakamana ki Rotoroa Auckland Waikato Fish & Game and The Hamilton Anglers Club kids fishing competition went without a hitch between the inclement weather that threatened. With a current lake temperature of nearly 10degC the fishing was going to be tough as the metabolism of the 6 target species slows. The challenging conditions didn’t deter the 130 odd registering on the day and with that amount of hooks in the water catching some fish was inevitable. It was fantastic to see families out enjoying the day which is what it really is all about. The prizes supplied by Burnsco and the free BBQ by Fulton Hogan really capped it all off.
