People often wonder what working with a designer actually looks like.
For me, this is the honest answer. A conversation, a lot of questions, and a process built around getting it genuinely right.
If your brand isn’t quite reflecting the quality of what you do, that’s where I might be able to help.
Fresh website, new work, same approach. Link in bio.

Your logo is not your brand 🤯
It’s a super common belief, but a logo is only one piece of a much bigger picture. Yes, it matters, but it can’t do all the heavy lifting!
Your brand shows up everywhere: website, print, signage, packaging, social, emails, ads, events and more. Slapping the same logo on all of these won’t create connection – it’ll just feel repetitive.
Instead, let your logo stay in its lane while the rest of your identity does the talking: colours, typography, imagery, tone and mood. This will build consistency, trust and real relationships with your audience.
I promise you, a logo alone won’t do that.
Keen to know more about this stuff? I’m always up for a coffee and a chat ☕️ You’ll find me on my website (link in bio).

More 🌟
We worked together to create an identity that’s not only visually engaging, but is also functional across all touchpoints.
It’s SO important to never just design a logo and send a client on their way with nothing else. I’ll talk more about that in another post.

School Values Messaging / S H O W C A S E

Havelock North Intermediate had an awesome idea to combine their Vision, Values and Learner Capabilities into one eye-catching poster.
Creating something bold that captured the audience’s attention was important, but so too was a clean, easy-to-follow format.
The solution?
> A custom digital illustration of students looking ahead to the maunga, Te Mata Peak, is engaging and inspiring – capturing HNI’s Vision.
> Icons representing the school’s 4 Learning Capabilities are clear and meaningful, naturally leading the eye to the text below them.
> Texture and pattern in the background give depth, while a deep gradient in the school’s colours allows the content to pop.
This poster has popped up all over the school to really connect with staff and students. We’ve also reproduced it as decals on glass doors, and as a 3-metre high artwork in the school hall where it shares the space with a similarly designed Values artwork (also pictured here).

W A Y F I N D I N G / S H O W C A S E

This is the completed map for Havelock North Intermediate from my little wayfinding teaser a few posts back.
Balancing simplicity and clarity with interesting, engaging design was important here. The map had to be easy to follow, but still great to look at.
The solution?
A tailored set of illustrations and icons used consistently across the design.
Textures to add depth.
Simple, clear labels to ensure usability.
‘Breathing space’ to offset busier areas in the layout.
So, what was originally an outline of classrooms on a blank background is now a cohesive, relevant visual guide for visitors to the school. Pretty cool 😎
