Children are born unique and wonderful. All we need to do is remind them of it. If we do this from the day they are born consistently they will believe it. We need to believe in them first and they will too. ✨

How do we teach children gratitude?
😊 Be a role model
Our children watch our behavior. If we use daily gratitude our children will see that is a normal practice to show gratefulness.
🙏 Grateful habits
We can practice gratitude with our children through habits. These are some ideas.
- Have them write letters/cards/emails to express their gratitude
- At bed time let everyone name at least one thing they were grateful about that day
- Have each family member name a reason why they are grateful for every other family member.
📖 Gratitude Journal
For older kids it can be great to write about what they are grateful for once a day or once a week. On bad days it will be a nice reminder to look through.
For younger kids you could make a collage/vision board on a digital device or for your wall together, with pictures of moments, people’s and things they are grateful for.

Raise your hands if you have failed in your life at least once before 🙋♀️
Failure is a part of life and it is in fact a crucial step to help your brain grow and develop. When you think about your biggest mistakes, think also about all you have learned from it. ✨
Many children are afraid to fail. Even if we try our hardest we can’t protect our children from it. How can we teach our children to embrace failure as an important step of learning?
1. Have a growth mindset.
Be mindful of your own thoughts and words you say to your child.
‘Failure is not an option.’
Instead —> ‘Failure will help you learn to do it better next time and eventually succeed!’
2. Let failure happen.
Let your children take risk and solve problems by themselves. Try not to interfere even if you know they will fail. Use that moment to help them see what they can learn from it.
—> ‘ What would you do differently next time?’; ‘What did we learn from this?’
3. Celebrate failure.
Give kids the chance to brag about their mistakes. Talking about them in a positive way will help them to feel save and not afraid to fail in the future.
—> ‘High -five buddy you almost nailed the trick!’ or ‘That was super close! I’m so proud of you.’
4. Show empathy
If your child is really disappointed or frustrated about his failure, put your own feelings to the side and acknowledge their feelings, give them your full attention.
—> ‘What about this was hard for you?’ Or
‘What would you have liked to happen?’
5. Encourage persistence
Encourage your child not to give up and keep trying. Help him to understand that our brain grows big if we keep trying. Give him examples of your own experience, after practicing many years you learned that skill. Use positive comments yourself.
—> The first way I tried didn’t work. I will find another way!’ Or ‘I will keep practicing till I understand this better.’
