Day 2 of our 7 day High Country Heritage has gone pretty well. The North Canterbury high country and the weather were both good to us with overnight rain settling any dust. The countryside and the livestock along the way are all looking a picture.
Roll on Day 3 which is a relatively short hop by the longest way from here in Methven down to Geraldine.

With the completion of Day 6 our Big Sky for 2026 is done. Day 6 is basically a loop using both sides of the Clutha River as far south as our Pinders Pond lunch spot and drives along mountain ranges on either side of the Clutha away from Alexandra in the morning to the south west and returning along the east in the afternoon. Certainly a day of contrasts in respect of temperature with a low of 2 degrees on the Old Man Range through to about 20 back in Alexandra in the afternoon. Wind chill was a factor at altitude so it felt bitterly cold.
Big Sky has again been a great trip to host. Thanks so much to all the landowners for their friendly co operation. In the instance of today they asked no more of us than to leave the gates as we found them and make a donation to the Teviot Valley Aged Care facility in Roxburgh and another to the Alexandra St Johns Ambulance. Totally our pleasure to do that.
