My second blog deals with Denial and that shock of "Oh no, it can't be true". I wrote it a few weeks ago and since then I've had another one of those moments hearing the news of Cal Wilson's passing. Cal was part of the Comedy Company who toured the NZDF bases in East Timor, and I was lucky enough to host them for what were some surprisingly deep and meaningful moments. Vale Cal Wilson. We are devastated to share the news that Cal Wilson, the much-loved stand up comedian, writer and actor died today, surrounded by family and friends in hospital after a short illness.
 
Cal was loved by her family, friends, fans and peers and a huge hole has been torn in the heart of our community.

It was great to join Coastal View Lifestyle Village staff, residents and guests for their 'Blue September Breakfast' fundraiser last week, in support of Prostate Cancer Month. There was no shortage of blue, and the blue chocolate strawberries were spectacular. I stayed on as a guest to speak about my own journey.
