Progress on the Hudson project for Shone and Shirley has been slower than planned due to chassis complications affecting LVV certification, which has created some unexpected delays.
However, we’ve teamed up with Ben at Action Engineering and are now getting things back on track.
The hold-up has naturally slowed progress on the bodywork, but on the positive side, we’ve mocked up both the Essex and Hudson bodywork to give a clear visual of the direction we’re heading.

This has also helped us better assess the proportions and the additional body length required.
We’re looking forward to having it on display at the upcoming Rotary Club car show in Richmond!

"Pinky" Is Back on the Road — Restored for My Sister Alanah

This little gem — a 1982 Daihatsu Charade G10 — holds a special place in our hearts. It was my sister Alanah’s very first car, lovingly picked out for her by our late granddad, Gordon Dacombe. Back in the early 2000s, during her teenage years, she spent countless hours enjoying this tiny but mighty machine.

As life moved forward and her family grew, Alanah eventually had to part ways with “Pinky” in favor of something more practical. Over time, the car changed hands, sadly falling into disrepair. But the story didn’t end there.

We managed to track Pinky down in rough condition — but we saw the potential, and more importantly, the memories tied to it. So we brought it home, and the decision was made: this iconic little car deserved a second chance.

With a lot of time, effort, and love, we restored Pinky from the ground up — rebuilding the motor, running gear, bodywork, and sourcing those hard-to-find original parts. And just in time for Alanah’s birthday, Pinky hit the road once again.

This isn’t just a car. It’s a piece of our family history, a tribute to Granddad, and a gift full of cherished memories. Some things really are more valuable than money

The Hudson hearse project for Shone & Shirley continues nicely with the arrangement of donor parts and the original long wheel base chassis repairs and mods to start incorporating the modern running gear
