You may find some roads closed due to the severe weather across the motu this week. Put safety first and check NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi's website journeys.nzta.govt.nz for up-to-date road conditions and road closures before you travel.
Landslides are a risk not just during heavy rainfall, but in the days and weeks after. Be especially alert when driving. Watch the road for collapsed areas, mud, fallen rocks, and other indications of a possible debris flow. Trust your danger sense - if you suspect that a landslide is about to occur, get away immediately.
