Hold your sausage, folks… 🌭👀

We’re calling on the Lakes FC whānau to help us celebrate the absolute legends who keep our club running – our volunteer coaches!

You know the ones…

⚽ They somehow coach somewhere between 1 and 100 teams each week (seriously… do they ever sleep?).

⚽ They spend Friday nights wondering if they’ll have enough players, then Saturday mornings trying to find where half of them disappeared to. Or juggling 5 subs 😂

⚽ They remember Player of the Day for 18 weeks straight, organise subs, wash bibs, pump up balls and somehow still remember everyone’s name (most the time).

⚽ They’ve mastered the art of herding cats at 5th Grade, where half the team is picking grass, chasing butterflies or waving to Mum instead of the ball.

Then something magical happens.

The kid who once tried to kick the ball… missed completely… spun around and fell over… suddenly can’t wait for training each week.

The shy player finds their voice.

Friendships are made.

Confidence grows.

By the older grades, those same coaches are talking formations, team shape and pressing triggers with players they’ve watched grow up over the years.

Along the way they’ve built culture, celebrated every little win, picked players up after tough losses… and yes… navigated those parents. You know exactly who we mean. 😂

Volunteer coaching isn’t always glamorous, but it changes lives.
