Roar! What's going on here? ๐Ÿฆ–

Some sharp-toothed friends have taken over one of our free Chromebooks and set up shop in our children's area, checking out Fiero Code's current code competition for all ages.

Think of Fiero Code as the perfect digital playground for young (and young-at-heart) coders and video game fans. It's FREE to enjoy with your Library Cardm packed with fun projects and cool challenges, with resources and cheat sheets for parents and teachers as well.

Code, design, build, test โ€“ and be in to win!

Ka mahuta a Matariki i te pae, ka mahuta ล tฤtou tลซmanako ki te tau. When Matariki rises above the horizon, our aspirations rise to the year ahead. ๐Ÿ˜Š

As winter settles in, we move with the stillness of frosty mornings and the bluster of stormy weather through a season of change. Many in our community are preparing for the Mฤori New Year, prompted by Matariki and Puanga rising in the sky. ๐ŸŒŸ

We're looking forward to a series of free community workshops coming to Central Library soon, organised by Upper Hutt City Council. A wonderful opportunity to mark the season and learn about what makes this time special. See you there!

Happy Throwback Thursday! โœจ This week, we're looking back to a bit of fun on Main Street in the late 1960s.

William "Bill" Baillie was in a bit of a bind here, outside his place of work, Weldall Engineering. The stunt was a part of festivities before Bill's marriage to Patricia "Patsy" Vare the next day on 4 November 1967 at St David's Church.

๐Ÿ“ท This photograph was taken by Revelle Jackson.
