Movers and shapers: Meet the people who are making a difference in 2023 18/01/2023

Get to know our CEO Maria English.

Kelly Dennett and the Stuff NZ team recently profiled a list of Kiwis who are making strides in 2023. They range from writers to sports coaches and CEOs.

Check out the candid interview they conducted with Maria, as she looks forward to an exciting year for ImpactLab and the social sector more generally.

“People have the courage to make fundamental changes in their lives; it’s just a question of how we get in behind them.”

Movers and shapers: Meet the people who are making a difference in 2023 We asked around for people leading change and making strides in their industries, these are the people we were told about.

Today, ImpactLab says goodbye to two of our brightest - Lucy King and George Metson.

George joined the team in early 2020 and is now heading back into academia to complete his master’s degree. He was an integral team member from the early days of ImpactLab. His stick-to-itiveness and searing intelligence helped form GoodMeasure into what it is today. We’ll miss you, George!

Lucy joined us in 2021 and is now set to begin her new adventure with BD Ladder. Her expertise in marketing and engagement was pivotal to our start-up days. We are going to miss her infectious energy around the office!

Thanks for playing such a significant role in our Mahi. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for you both.

We're incredibly grateful for the supporters of our vision - who are helping us shape a world where investment works for communities, so they can live the lives they choose. We look forward to doing good, better in 2023!

A poem written by our Research Lead, Luke, after we visited Elisha Watson at the nisa workshop last Friday!

“ImpactLab prizewinner Elisha from Nisa. Who runs a unique charitable business fashion boutique (near the top of Willis Street). That provides jobs for refugees. Here, she effortlessly charms a rapt, besotted team. The impossibly hard ('specialty retail' through Covid), made to look easy, and chic. A working workshop, perfectly clean, funky, pristine. How can one person know/manage 'everything' - tariff history, inventory, how to fix the old machines? A great place to go, for gifting and undergarment needs. Nisa.”

Congratulations again Nisa, for winning our What’s your Impact? Competition backed by BDO New Zealand. Our team look forward to helping you tell your impact story!
