Janet's Story
Janet is a hard-working mother in Peru, who was planning a brighter future for her children. She currently supports her children and elderly father. Before the COVID-19 lockdown, she worked as a school bus driver.
Winter in Lima is very rainy, foggy, and can be cold. Janet went into debt to provide repairs to her house before winter, to provide a place for her family to sleep.
Janet fully expected to be able to pay off her loan. When COVID-19 hit, she was suddenly out of work. In Peru, banks aren't putting a hold on loans and interest continues to accumulate. Janet is supporting her family and soon she and families like her could be caught in a whirlpool of debt. Our goal at the Grace Project is to help women like Janet reach a secure and successful future!

Pilar by the Grace Project Peru is a non-profit, entrepreneurial organization that develops life skills and business acumen in young mothers from the Pamplona neighborhood of Lima, Peru. Through our three-step method of production, education, and mentorship, we empower each mother to take control of her life and strive for a brighter future!
