We are deeply honored to see Peru recognized by National Geographic in their feature “Gifts of the Desert: the most beautiful oases in the world.”

Beyond the recognition itself, what truly moves us is witnessing how the hidden beauty of our country continues to find its way into the hearts of travelers around the world.

In the heart of the desert lies Huacachina, an oasis surrounded by towering dunes and silence—where reality and legend intertwine.

It is said that long ago, a woman fled into the desert, holding her baby tightly in her arms, escaping from an unknown danger. Exhausted, she stopped for a moment to look back… and the water she carried spilled onto the sand, giving life to the lagoon. As the winds rose and the dunes shifted around her, she vanished—becoming part of the landscape itself.

Some believe her spirit still lives within the waters. And when the sun begins to set, and the desert falls into stillness, you can almost feel her presence—quiet, watchful, eternal.

These places are more than landscapes; they are stories waiting to be felt. They remind us that even in the most unexpected corners of the earth, life, beauty, and meaning can emerge.

At Quechua Treks, we believe travel is about connection—about stepping into places that carry history, emotion, and mystery.

We are once again proud to be part of a country that continues to inspire, surprise, and move those who come to discover it. And we feel grateful every day to share these journeys with the world.

International Day of Glaciers

This date reminds us of the vital role glaciers play in sustaining life on Earth and why protecting them is more urgent than ever. Glaciers are not just majestic landscapes — they are one of the planet’s largest freshwater reserves, feeding rivers, supporting ecosystems, agriculture, and millions of communities around the world. As they slowly melt due to climate change, we are witnessing the loss of ancient ice that has shaped our environment for thousands of years.

Preserving glaciers means protecting biodiversity, securing water for future generations, and maintaining the delicate balance of our climate. On this day, we are invited to reflect, raise awareness, and take action — from reducing our environmental footprint to supporting conservation efforts. Every small step matters in safeguarding these frozen giants, whose silent presence sustains life far beyond the mountains they call home.
