There’s an ancient and gentle
stone forest in the sky
that sits quietly in peace,
with majestic pride.

From which the timid sun hides,
the cousin moon abides
sharing the family of height,
by night.

Made of magic and moss
that grows ever-so-soft
in the hidden tunnels of shade,
the house’s soul,
it never fades.

Resting like an old, heavy heart
that has felt the weight of time,
a resilient, weathered proof
of the sacred prime.

Yet year by year,
the fog and the rain
and the winds sweep in,
questioning how much
the roots of this forest
can deepen.
But that is
the strong stature
Marcahuasi withstands,
protector of its Lima,
protector of its land.
