The is approaching fast! Today we want to share with you the history of our championship. How did the ICPC begin?

🔹Initially, the championship was just a local student programming competition. It was first held at the Texas A&M University in 1970.

🔹Then the idea was picked up by universities in the USA and Canada. Since 1977 the championship has been held annually.

🔹In 1989, the event grew into a worldwide competition.

Interesting fact: today the competition attracts more participants than the Olympic Games! For example, in 2017, 46,381 people took part in the ICPC championship, and 11,544 athletes took part in the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
