Zincore Metals looking for partner to develop project in the South –
Gestion

Jorge Benavides, President and general manager of explorer Zincore Metals
signaled that they will present their pre-feasibility study for
Accha-Yanque (Cusco) by March 2013. He explained that the company’s
interest in this zinc district is to count with a strategic partner to
develop a zinc plant and a smelter in the Peruvian south. Benavides
considers that the preliminary studies will recommend building the plant
in Cusco and the refinery in a place such as Matarani or Ilo, with an
investment between US $300 – US$ 330 millions. It is expected that they
will refine the metal in the long run, which would be beneficial to the
company given that the metal’s net refining costs would be around US $
0.18 the pound. Zincore has received interest for the existing zinc
reserves in Accha-Yanque by companies such as Votorantim, which counts
with a zinc refinery in Cajamarquilla (Lima) and is looking at prospects
in Amazonas (Bongará).
