NFA launches EU forest program for Sepik provinces
The PNG Forest Authority (PNGFA) successfully launched the EU - FCCB (European Union - Forest and Climate Change and Biodiversity) National Forest Inventory (NFI) Program for East and West Sepik provinces on Friday 20th of February, 2026 in Wewak - East Sepik Province at the Village Inn Resort.
The Acting Managing Director of PNG Forest Authority John Mosoro said the purpose of the NFI for the two Sepik provinces is to determine the total forest stock to enable future carbon trading as an alternative to logging.

According to Kepson Pupita, General Secretary of the Oil Palm Industry Corporation (OPIC), stakeholder consultations are critical as these bills take shape, following the endorsement of the National Palm Oil Policy 2025-2030 by the National Executive Council (NEC).
These bills are aimed at creating a stronger, enforceable legislative framework that will drive sustainable growth in the palm oil sector, paving the way for a more robust future for both the industry and the country.
