TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE ARTECHE MANGROVE FOREST

Please be informed that the construction of the Arteche Mangrove Forest Boardwalk has officially resumed AND IN ITS FINAL PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION.

In line with this, the area is closed to visitors to give way to ongoing construction works.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we fast-track the completion of this project so we can open and operate it as soon as possible for the public to enjoy.

The Department of Tourism Region 8 (DOT-8) headed by RD Karen Riopes with the Association of Leyte Tour Operators (ALTO), conducted a Tourism Product Audit in Arteche, showcasing a combination of unique experiences that tell the stories of its people and its rich ecosystems-something that cannot be found anywhere else.

LGU Arteche emerged as the champion in the first Eastern Visayas Tourism Investment Training Series โ€“ Pitching Session, besting 24 participating provinces, cities, and municipalities across Region VIII. The event gathered local government units to present innovative tourism investment proposals aimed at boosting regional development and attracting both local and international investors.

Artecheโ€™s winning proposal, titled PAGTIPIG: From Poachers to Keepers Program, stood out for its strong sustainability framework and community-centered approach to environmental protection and tourism development.

With the victory, Artecheโ€™s PAGTIPIG program will be featured prominently in the initial pages of the Eastern Visayas Tourism Investment Portfolioโ€”set to be showcased in various investment forums both in the Philippines and abroad. The portfolio marks a historic milestone as the first tourism investment portfolio of its kind in the country.

In addition to clinching the top prize, LGU Arteche also received the Strategic Communication Excellence Award, recognizing the municipality as the best presenter during the pitching session.

The winning proposal was prepared and presented by Tourism Officer Sarah Afable and Investment Officer Chelsie Evardone, whose compelling delivery and well-crafted strategy impressed the panelists.
