Welcome to Manila! President Tô Lâm

Vietnamese President and its delegation is on a state visit to Manila from May 31 to June 1 upon the invitation of President Marcos Jr. This marks the first state visit by Vietnam's top leader to the Philippines. Both leaders are scheduled to discuss trade and investment, maritime cooperation, food security, and people-to-people exchanges.

Seen here is VN-A870, a 789 of Vietnam Airlines, carrying the entire delegation. It landed via Runway 24 at around 1240H from Singapore.

FIRST OF MANY LANDINGS - RP-C3511 🇵🇭🛬

From Toulouse 🇫🇷 to Manila 🇵🇭, this aircraft flew for its delivery flight for more than 13 hours. PAL's 2nd A350-1000 landed past 1700H PHT via Runway 24 in a gloomy late afternoon arrival.

It was a momentous occassion not only for Philippine Airlines but also to our local spotters in the area to witness the arrival of the said aircraft.

This will be a great addition to the existing fleet of 2 A350-900 and the sole A350-1000 (RP-C3511). Sadly, this doesn't sport the same 85 Years decal and just wearing the standard PAL livery.

Congratulations to PAL and see you on your first commercial flight soon.

F1 OFFICIAL GLOBAL AIRLINE PARTNER

Qatar Airways became the "Official Partner" last February 2023, making the airline the title sponsor for several races which includes Qatar Grand Prix.

Because of this partnership, global spotters were expecting Qatar Airways to sport another special livery in one of its aircraft in celebration of this milestone event.

Last August 2023, a few months after the official announcement, this particular aircraft (A7-BEL) was rolled out with this special colour. Interestingly, it sported an F1 driver on both sides of the fuselage with a uniform similar to the color scheme of the airline.

FIRST A321NEO FOR THAI AIRWAYS

Today marks the first visit of the first A321neo delivered to Thai Airways (TG/THA) to Manila.

This aircraft was delivered last December 2025. It features 175-seat configuration (16 Business, 159 Economy Class). It is named "Bowornrangsi" after royal bestowing process which involves the King granting a name of high moral standing or historical significance.

2ND A346 FOR UNIVERSAL SKY CARRIER

Today, another ex-Lufthansa A346 was ferried to Lufthansa Technik Philippines for the much needed maintenance before being put into service by its new owner, Universal Sky Carrier. The aircraft was stored from Jan 29, 2025 to May 15, 2026 in Teruel. It was flown from Teruel to Palma de Mallorca before flying to Manila on the same day.

This is the 2nd A346 of USC that was flown to Manila for maintenance. The first aircraft was D-AIHU which arrived last Mar 2026. Universal Sky Carrier is a German charter airline based at Frankfurt Airport founded in 2020. Currently it has 2 active aircraft, D-AUSC and D-AUSZ, another 2 upcoming which is the 2 ex-LH A346 currently in Manila.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LIVERY IN MANILA

Manila spotters are in a roll with Qatar special livery planes. It all started with A7-BEL and A7-BEG last week, then this week, A7-BED arrived in Manila as QR932. It landed around 1606H ahead of scheduled arrival.

HAJJ CHARTERS TO MEDINA

May 2026 is the month of Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Because of the said religious event, a lot of Muslims from around the world visits Mecca to do pilgrimage including Muslims in the Philippines.

Saudia arranged for 2 additional flights, first was last May 05, then another on May 07. They sent a normal livery 787 last May 05 but for the May 07, it sent a special livery. Both flights landed in Medina.
