Balamban Rural Health Unit II and Birthing Center

The “Keep the Beat, Lower Your Blood Pressure” Zumbathon Contest was successfully conducted as a health and fitness event in celebration of World Hypertension Day 2026 at the Pondol Sports Complex, Barangay Pondol Balamban Cebu. The activity was facilitated by the FIT and Right Pondol Zumba Group, headed by Dr. Lorna O. Gonzalez, and held last May 31, 2026.

The event aimed to promote awareness about hypertension (high blood pressure) and encourage community members to engage in regular physical exercise through Zumba. It also served as a fun and energetic competition that supports a healthy lifestyle and cardiovascular wellness.

In celebration of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 2026, the Balamban Rural Health Unit II and Birthing Center, in collaboration with Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., successfully conducted a community health activity last May 25, 2026, at the Balamban Rural Health Unit II and Birthing Center, Buanoy, Balamban Cebu.

The activity was spearheaded by our Municipal Rural Health Physician Dr. Grace M. Arcay together alongside with our dedicated nurses, midwives, and staff of Balamban RHU II.

The following free health services were rendered to the community:

Pap Smear Screening – 129 clients served
Visual Inspection through Acetic Acid (VIA) – 8 clients served
Clinical Breast Examination – 137 clients served
HIV Testing and Counseling – 83 clients served

We sincerely appreciate the residents who participated in and supported this meaningful health initiative.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Stacy Lape Tajon our Municipal Councilor in Balamban and to Mr. Filman P. Brobo, RN, MAN, our active Development Management Officer of the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development, for their continued dedication, invaluable assistance, and steadfast support to the various health programs and initiatives of the Rural Health Unit.

Through partnerships and meaningful community health initiatives such as this, we remain committed to raising awareness, advancing preventive care, and promoting the early detection of cervical cancer for a healthier and more resilient community.
