Bringing the message of hope and salvation by the means of music and teaching God's word

19/10/2022

Good morning, a very pleasant morning in Lapu-Lapu City by the way; cool, no need to use my fan!

Not a day that I would normally be thinking about a Doctor; but, as always, I am thinking about Doctor Jesus.

That is why I love singing that Randy Travis song ~

“You know, I've got so many problems
And lately, I've been feelin' kinda down
I hear you're the one I should talk to
I hear you're the best healer around.

Chorus
Doctor Jesus, Will you help me? Make me better, make me whole
Doctor Jesus, Lord, I need you To mend my heart, and save my soul.

There's so many out there who need you
Do you think you could work me in?
You see I'm in the worst of condition
But mostly, I just need me a friend.

Chorus

Tag ~ Doctor Jesus, Lord, Lord, I need you so
To mend my heart, and save my soul...

That is what Jesus referred to himself as, remember, “When Jesus heard it, he said to them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mark 2:17)

And, of course, because the Apostles understood that Jesus’ “medical practice” goes far beyond that, we also know, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:14-15)

Think about your human doctor for just a moment; at times he must give us an Rx that we do not like, does not taste well or, perhaps, even hurts.

Well guess what; our great Physician Jesus Christ is no different!

Only He calls His “tribulations,” “trials” and “temptations;” and, they ARE God’s Rx’s to make us grow, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” (1 Peter 1:7)

What is my conclusion on the Rx’s of God?

Well, I am in total agreement with Brother James’ take on them, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:2-4)

But, our Doctor Jesus is not only a General Practitioner; oh no, He is also a highly skilled surgeon who at times must operate; the very first surgery He performs is when a person is “born again,” Jesus performs a heart transplant, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)

Jesus also performs minor surgeries along the way, skillfully using the scalpel of His word ably assisted by His Chief Nurse, the Holy Spirit, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

And, the anesthesia the Holy Spirit administers to us is to continually remind that our words MUST be the same as those of John the Baptizer, “He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)

So, to summarize this to my conclusion, Jesus gave us a heart transplant the instant we “got saved,” then He began using his scalpel to “cut away” everything that is NOT Christ like and gives us Rx's to "heal us" into His image, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

And, rest assured, the surgeries and Rx’s WILL continue until we see Jesus face-to-face, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6) ~ Baruch HaShem Adonai
