Newly elected officers of the Mariano Marcos State University-University Student Council (MMSU USC) officially assumed office on Monday, with restoring student trust as their foremost priority for Academic Year 2026-2027.

Vice President for Academic Affairs, Aris Reynold Cajigal, administered the oath of office during the ceremony held at the FEM Achievement Wall.

“The most crucial goal is to get–or to win back–the trust of the student body, especially when it comes to money. We all know what happened in the past, and we do not want the same situation to happen again,” Executive Chairperson Danniel James Corrales said in an interview.

“We want to, at least, regain their trust so that the work carried out with the student body and the student councils will be seen as genuine and worthwhile,” Corrales asserted in a mix of English and Iloko.

Along with Corrales in the senior executive positions is Executive Vice Chairperson John Wayne Dalere. Serving in junior executive positions are Yzabela Colleen Alterado, Executive Secretary; Deonell Galang, Deputy Executive Secretary; Mike Jhedrick Dapa, Secretary for Finance; Josephine Rose F. Peralta, Assistant Secretary for Finance; Kurt Jheremy M. Salcedo, Secretary for Logistics; Aaron Jhen Garvida, Assistant Secretary for Logistics; Arvie Jussane Calaycay, Secretary for Communications; and Jannah Marice Alejandro, Assistant Secretary for Communications.

Meanwhile, the league of councilors is composed of Ma. Christina Mae Canlog (CAFSD), Dale Adrian Tayamen (CASAT), Diether John Pumaras (CBEA), Lynx Marcia Orig (COD), Edel Mariano Jr. (CHS), Mary Ysabelle Calaoagan (COE), Gian Cariaga (CIT), Oscar John Mar Reyes (CCIS), Julie Mae F. Tolentino (CTE), Jolante Mariano Gaces (CAS), Roxanne Donita M. Domingo (COM), Ava Laureen Graciela Quillope (LHS-Laoag), Jillian Gwen Cajigal (LHS-Batac), and Scarlett Pink Nicolas (LES).

Corrales also mentioned that the council aims to build a “rooted and grounded leadership” by involving students in policy-making, programs, and initiatives that directly affect them.

“We are going to champion participatory governance, because we cannot achieve the things that we want for the students if the students themselves are not participative,” he uttered.

“We are looking years ahead, identifying the issues we can address this academic year so that the succeeding year will be smoother and marked by greater development,” Corrales added.

Among the administration’s priorities are reviving the Stallion discount program to help students cope with rising expenses and passing a Student Development Plan that seeks to strengthen different areas of student development.
