𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Municipality of Batad proudly brings home numerous awards from the Gawad Probinsya sa Palibot (GPP) 2.0 – 2025 Search for Outstanding Local Government Units (LGUs) on Environmental Governance (EnGov) Year 9, during the awarding ceremony held on 28 November 2025 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City.

Now on its ninth year, the rebranded and upscaled GPP continues to highlight and strengthen the commitment of Iloilo’s LGUs in environmental governance. This year’s assessment looked into the accomplishments of participating LGUs across five key Environmental Governance Areas:
• Resource Management
• Waste Management and Pollution Control
• Biodiversity Conservation
• Wetlands and Water Management
• Parks and Green Spaces Development

Evaluations were conducted by a multi-agency committee composed of expert personnel from DENR Field Office VI, EMB (WQMA & SWM), Iloilo CODE, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Under the leadership of Mayor Elvira P. Alarcon, Batad earned the following recognitions:

🏆 IDEAL Performing LGU – Environmental Governance (EnGov) Year 9 with Php.100,000.00 cash incentive
🏆 Best in Provincial Environmental Governance Initiative (Green and Blue Carbon)
🏆 Certificate of Recognition for MENRO Samuel B. De La Vega, Jr.

Representing the Local Government Unit of Batad, SB Committee Chair on Environment Hon. Joel Agramon, MENRO Samuel B. de la Vega Jr., and MENRO staff Miah Mae B. Dearos, personally received the recognitions on behalf of the municipality.

These awards highlight the municipality’s strong performance and unwavering commitment to sustainable governance. Under the vision of Mayor Elvira P. Alarcon and Vice Mayor Steven Michael Y. Andrada, and guided by the municipality's development mantra - a GREATER Batad —where the last E stands for Environmental Sustainability, Batad exemplifies a model of local governance that balances development with care for the environment, ensuring that future Batadnons inherit a municipality that is not only progressive but also truly GREATER in every sense.

𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐝, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Municipality of Batad once again proved its excellence in local governance after bagging major awards during the Recognition and Awarding Ceremony of Outstanding Municipalities in the Province of Iloilo in the Delivery of Assessment Services for Calendar Years 2023 and 2024, held today, November 20, 2025, at Diversion 21 Hotel.

The Office of the Municipal Assessor was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for placing Top 5 in the submission of the Quarterly Report on Real Property Assessment (QRRPA) for Calendar Year 2024.

The Municipality of Batad also received a Plaque of Recognition for being the Top Performing Municipality among the 5th Class Municipalities in the Province of Iloilo in terms of Percentage Increase in Assessed Values for CY 2023, registering a remarkable 105.37% increase.

This recognition was awarded to the Municipality of Batad under the leadership of Mayor Elvira Alarcon, and the Office of the Municipal Assessor, then headed by Antonio Estebal, for their strong implementation of assessment initiatives and successful updating of property records.

Representing the Local Government Unit of Batad, Ms. Leanne Charlotte I. Torrento, OIC–Municipal Assessor, and Dahlia Brillantes, Assessment Clerk III, personally received the recognitions on behalf of the municipality and the Office of the Municipal Assessor.

These recognitions serve as inspiration to the Local Government Unit of Batad to further enhance the municipality’s assessment services.
