Celebrating ๐‘พ๐’๐’“๐’๐’… ๐‘ท๐’๐’‘๐’–๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’ ๐‘ซ๐’‚๐’š is to raise global awareness about current population trends affecting the world. It focuses attention on global demographic issues, including poverty, gender equality, maternal health, hunger, disease, warfare, and human rights.

This year's theme emphasizes the importance of inclusive data collection to ensure that everyone is fairly represented in population counts, regardless of background, nationality, geography, or socioeconomic standing.

BatStateU Alangilan, through Human Resource Management Office, Sustainable Development Office and Environmental Management Unit, conducted an orientation on June 27, 2024, to equip non-teaching personnels with the knowledge regarding the "Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) Citizen's Charter" and the "Sustainable Development Goals in focus on SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production".

The first speaker, Engr. Suzette Mercado, head of the Human Resource Management Office, highlighted the main objective of these activities, which is to properly educate and inform them of the valuable concepts, processes, and rules and regulations in ARTA.

Following the first discussion, Engr. Lovely Aรฑonuevo, Sustainable Development Officer and Head of Environmental Management Unit, provided a brief introduction to the 17 SDGs and focused on SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, as well as keeping the audience abreast of the latest updates on the implementation of sustainable development goals and the future SDG-related programs on campus, which will be of great help for the operational functions of all offices, colleges, and the university as a whole.

The orientation concluded with an open forum for questions and discussions. Followed by the awarding of certificates and a photo opportunity.

This project is an impactful awareness project dedicated to highlight the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This series serves as a comprehensive exploration and examination of each SDG, providing a platform to dig deeper into their
significance, challenges, and the collective efforts required to achieve them.

Batangas State University, The National Engineering University participated in the ๐๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ง๐ข ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ with the leadership of Engr. Ernesto C. Magundayao, a faculty member and the Extension Coordinator of College of Engineering held in San Mateo, Isabela from June 21 to June 24, 2024.

As part of the initiatives of the university towards sustainability and environmental literacy, the Environmental Management Unit (EMU) and Sustainable Development Office (SDO) Alangilan conducted Green Talks during the Bayani Challenge. One of the topics discussed was the Sustainable Development Goals Spotlight Series discussed by Asst. Prof. Kristia Lei A. Reyes, the Assistant Director โ€“ Community Development of the Extension Service Office Central and a faculty member at the College of Health Sciences, BatStateU Pablo Borbon. This talk focuses on the introduction of the sustainable development goals to the wide range of audiences from San Mateo, Isabela including children and adults. A workshop was also conducted after the talk to assess the learning of the participants. This activity was facilitated by Engr. Lovely C. Aรฑonuevo, the head of the EMU and SDO Alangilan and a faculty member at the College of Engineering with the assistance of youth volunteers from Batangas and in
collaboration with Gawad Kalinga.

Today's celebration emphasizes tree planting and forest conservation. Established by Proclamation No. 396 in 2003 and involves activities such as tree planting drives, educational initiatives, and reforestation efforts organized by both government and non-government entities.

Also, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) usually leads these events to encourage environmental sustainability and public participation in conservation efforts.
