1ST QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED) 2026

The Bureau of Fire Protection Region IX, under the strong leadership of 𝐅𝐂𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐉𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘 𝐃𝐔𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐎, 𝐃𝐒𝐂 – Regional Director, and under the supervision of 𝐅𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐎 𝐏 𝐀𝐋𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂 – Provincial Fire Marshal, the Bayog Municipal Fire Station Shift B personnel, led by SFO4 Arnil S Miano, MPA – Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, successfully conducted the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 on March 12, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Damit National High School, in collaboration with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Bayog.

The activity was conducted in coordination with the school administration, teachers, and students to promote awareness and preparedness in the event of an earthquake. Participants actively took part in the simulation exercise by performing the proper safety procedure known as “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” which is an essential response during seismic events to minimize injuries and protect lives.

Prior to the drill, personnel from the Bayog Municipal Fire Station, together with the MDRRMO Bayog, provided a brief orientation to the participants, explaining the importance of earthquake preparedness, the correct actions to take during ground shaking, and the proper evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of everyone within the school premises. The drill also highlighted the importance of remaining calm, alert, and cooperative during emergencies.

Through this collaborative effort, the Bureau of Fire Protection and MDRRMO Bayog continue to strengthen disaster preparedness among students, teachers, and school personnel while promoting a culture of safety and resilience within the community. Activities such as the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill play a vital role in enhancing public readiness and ensuring that communities are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively during disasters.
