SIESTA SELECTS

Artist: Colovrwave
Track Title: Scarlet
Release Date: November 21, 2023
Genre: Alternative Rock / Pop-Punk / Fusion
Vibe: Emotional, conflicted, heavy, late-night tension

This week’s Siesta came from a message, Colovrwave reached out to us on Moodnight Sessions, and after checking out their track “Scarlet,” it immediately stood out.

Hailing from Rizal (Montalban, San Mateo, and Antipolo), the band blends pop-punk and metalcore into a sound that feels both aggressive and emotionally raw. “Scarlet” leans heavily into that space, driven by tension, frustration, and inner conflict.

Lyrically, the track hits a very real nerve. Lines about arguments, emotional exhaustion, and self-blame (“Siguro nga ako ang mali”) give it a relatable, almost confrontational honesty. It feels like a conversation that keeps repeating in your head, unresolved, heavy, and personal.

What makes it work is the balance: the intensity of the instrumentation matched with vulnerable storytelling. Hindi lang siya basta mabigat - may pinanggagalingan.

A solid track for moments when everything feels overwhelming, and you just need something that matches your headspace.

Got any track suggestions or recommendations? Just drop them in the comments we might feature them next.

Artist: Villains
Track Title: PISO PISO
Release Date: March 29, 2026
Genre: Rock

“PISO PISO” carries more than just sound, it carries history. Composed by Lem Ponado, a veteran musician from Marikina known for his work with Micromachine, Beewings, and more, now playing with Villains, the track reflects years of experience shaped into one solid piece.

What makes this song even more meaningful is the presence of his son, Basti, on drums. From being a young kid watching and playing alongside his father’s bands, to now sharing the same stage and recording, it’s a full-circle moment. Alongside them are Jueteng Lord on guitar and Batuts on bass, completing a lineup that feels both seasoned and grounded.

There’s a strong ’90s band era vibe running through the track — raw, honest, and familiar. The chemistry feels natural, almost like the music itself has been passed down.

It’s not just a track — it’s a story of legacy, growth, and music that lives across generations.

As We Know — Moving Forward This Year

This year, we continue what we started.
As We Know remains one of our core content pillars a space where we feature every artist we interview, tell their stories, and amplify their journey beyond algorithms, numbers, or trends.

As We Know is not just a post.
It’s our way of giving hope, clarity, and direction to artists who are still finding their voice, while sharing real, grounded insights from artists they already admire. From beginnings, struggles, promises, motivations, and long-term goals we let artists speak in their own words.

Before we go further, let me introduce myself 🖕🖕
My name is Tes. I’m the writer behind Urbanbliss TV, WeDesign Studio, and Joint Project Philippines. I stay mostly behind the scenes, listening, observing, and turning conversations into stories. I write not to sound loud, but to make sure artists are heard. (Yes, I’m probably smiling while typing this but we don’t always have to say it out loud.)

This year, we’re also preparing to take As We Know to the next level.
We are currently planning to launch a live podcast format, where conversations go deeper, stories happen in real time, and artists can speak freely about creativity, survival, and the realities of the scene.

This is possible because Urbanbliss TV is growing.
We now have new members joining the UBTV crew, helping us produce stronger, more consistent, and more intentional content. More people behind the camera, behind the mic, and behind the ideas all aligned to support the creative community.

We are also open for collaborations, especially for Moodnight Sessions.
If you’re an artist, band, creative, or collective who wants to be part of it, just send us a message. No long pitches needed let’s start with a conversation.

For now, I won’t be sharing my personal social media accounts.
Not out of mystery, just privacy (ginagaya ko lang si Boss Peps). The work speaks for itself, and the platform is always bigger than the writer.

We’re still here.
We will keep documenting culture.
We will keep listening to artists.
And we will keep building a space where artists are seen, respected, and remembered.

This is only the beginning.
BTW, Happy F*cking New Year Everyone!

Bestfriend Tes!

✨As We Know- Rhovie Conde

As We Know is a Moodnight Sessions series where we go beyond the tracks, the gigs, and the spotlight — we tell the stories that shape artists: the grind, the rituals, and the reasons they keep creating. After featuring incredible solo artists and bands, today we shine the light on Rhovie Conde, drummer of SigawPilipinas, freelance logistics officer, and entrepreneur behind HOPE Haws of Pansit Espesyal.

Rhovie’s journey started since his young age, driven by a deep connection to music. “Music has always been my biggest influence,” he says simply, yet behind that simplicity lies years of dedication, late-night rehearsals, and countless drumbeats that shaped his sound.

His creative ritual is a mix of focus and vibe: playing music while lighting up a cigarette to set the perfect mood. For Rhovie, art is not just performance — it’s energy, visuals, and emotion combined. “I use playing drums, visuals, and energy to communicate things words alone can’t express,” he shares.

Challenges? Of course. “Sometimes you feel your art is enough, but the client is not good enough, lol,” he laughs. It’s this honesty, resilience, and ability to keep pushing that makes him stand out.

Being on stage has sharpened his eye for detail, ear for emotion, and understanding of how people connect with art. Whether it’s jamming with Sigaw Pilipinas, managing logistics for projects like RAkista, Rumble Royale, and MiFamilia Collective, or running his own business, Rhovie brings heart, precision, and rhythm into everything he does.

His message for listeners and aspiring artists? “Sometimes it’s about making a statement — let your energy speak, let your music move, and don’t stop chasing your name.”

💬 Now it’s your turn. How do you see Rhovie Conde? Share your thoughts, favorite tracks, or moments with Sigaw Pilipinas in the comments.

✨ As We Know — CJ Santana and Marvin Bedico of Bandista Production: 11 Years of Passion, Purpose, and Homework ✨

Bandista Production is one of the longest-running, unshakably rooted indie music productions in Manila. For 11 solid years, they’ve proven that the scene isn’t kept alive by budgets — it’s kept alive by people who refuse to leave the fire behind.

CJ, a woman raised in the 90s band golden era, said it best:

“I miss the world of music. That’s why I built Bandista.”
“Artists have real costs - gas, time, pagod, practice. Passion opens the door, but respect honors the stay.”
“If you're going to run a show, you don’t just show up. You do the homework. You prepare the pocket. You create something people will care enough to support. Even small, basta may maabot sa artist as respect sa craft.”

CJ creates when emotions peak or break, art was her voice when words were heavy. She admits:

“Many friends didn’t know I was an artist, but art was my outlet, my safe space.”

Marvin, a music-lover whose confidence grew when the mic turned on, echoes the same pulse:

“It’s the love of music — that passion should stay after the show.”
“I’m not someone who gives up — the body looks for music, so we continue.”

Their biggest blockers? Funds and venues closing — but they flip it into fuel:

“Major challenge? None, siguro the constant finding of a place. Pero awa ng Diyos, the community helps.”

They built a rhythm of meticulous ex*****on, motivated and planned, no rituals, just a map. Their growth backbone? Music lovers, indie bands who play for the slot and heart.

What they promise the scene is simple but massive:

CJ promises respect, preparation, honor, structure.

Marvin promises motivation, lifting new bands, hanging ako sa stage to help others be heard.

Their goals aren’t fame — it’s legacy:

“To matter. Leave a mark. Show that we are serious with grit and conviction kahit saan pa.”
“Spotlight artists who deserve a louder stage.”

Beyond titles, they define themselves as:

CJ: Contributor to community and craft.

Marvin: A motivator for others.

They are not just producers. They are bridge-builders for artists who are still scared to start, bands who rehearse even without audiences yet, and dreamers who miss the sound of their own voices. They prove that art isn’t always born in big studios. Sometimes, it begins with missing who you once were, and choosing to return to that spark, even when the pocket is empty and the path is blurry.

💬 Now it’s your turn — how do YOU see CJ and Marvin’s impact? Drop your perspective, share a moment, or tell us how indie productions like ‌‌Bandista inspired your own artist comeback.

Because as we know — the scene continues for the people who care enough to keep writing history.
