I woke up this morning still feeling good from a recent house tour of an old woman’s ancestral home.

Maybe it’s because I’ve always had a soft spot for old people. They evoked childhood memories of how my grandparents made me feel 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡.❤️🎉

I grew up believing I was the most favorite of these old folks. ❤️

Pero nung tumanda na ako, I started to think twice. Kasi baka ganun din ang pakiramdam ng mga kapatid at mga pinsan ko. 😊😂

Old folks just have this way of making everyone feel treasured. 💖

During the tour, I was welcomed by a woman in her late 70s—the remaining heir of a grand ancestral home in the heart of Makati.

I guess their family wasn’t the “filthy rich” of their time, but definitely the rich and influential ones, with these properties she’s now slowly letting go of.
Actually, she was even considering donating some of their provincial properties to the government.

She was warm and accommodating, though a little tired after walking from her own home just across the street to their ancestral house, which our common friend asked me to sell.

We sat and talked.
Really talked.
I listened with all my heart, trying to understand where she was coming from.

And I got it.

Old age changes our priorities in life, which was very obvious from the way she shared her story.
She also had the clarity to spare their younger offspring the trouble of dividing what she would eventually leave behind, just like what her parents and siblings did.

Makes sense.

I’ve sold quite a number of houses in the past, but properties of old folks feel very different.

Anyway, we ended up with halo-halo, coffee, and bibingka at Rockwell. (ang lapit kasi sa house nya 😅)
See, this is what most gray people prefer. 😊

And honestly, I kinda like it too, even more than an iced latte. 😊
