As we commemorate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 with the theme “𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 – 𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴,” we are reminded that emotional wounds in times of disasters, conflict, or crises are just as real as physical ones. ❤️‍🩹

In the school setting, this means ensuring that students, teachers, and staff have 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, even in the most challenging times. We can all take part through 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗱 (𝗣𝗙𝗔) — 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬, 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯, 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬:
👀 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴.
👂 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘺.
🤝 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴.

Let us also honor the Filipino spirit of 𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗮 — finding inner ease, relief, and strength through community, family ties, and bayanihan. Together, we can help one another rebuild with meaning, compassion, and connection. 🫂

🕯️ 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 🕯️

Last September, the CDC Guidance Office, in collaboration with the CDC Psychological Society (College of Psychology), joined the global observance of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, under the theme “𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦”, calling us all to challenge stigma and create spaces for open, compassionate conversations.

To deepen understanding and compassion, the team conducted 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺-𝘁𝗼-𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, where students participated in brief discussions and interactive activities about 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽. These sessions aimed to dispel misconceptions and encourage open conversations about mental health and support. 🎗️

Alongside this, a 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 was set up in the corridor outside the Guidance Office, open for everyone in the campus community to participate. Students were invited to choose and answer reflective questions such as:

After writing their heartfelt responses and dropping them into the box, participants picked a random 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 prepared by the Guidance Office — a note of encouragement meant to remind them that they are 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱. 🧡

Through these simple yet heartfelt moments, students were able to express themselves, connect with others, and be reminded that 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 and that 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲. 🌼

All entries were handled with confidentiality and care by the CDC Guidance Office.

Teaching profession is truly a noble one, as nobody can tell when and where the teachers' influences may stop. They continue to inspire their students as they eventually become the professionals of the future.

Teachers also symbolize the essence of true success -- the ability to inspire and share knowledge far beyond any textbook can contain, their diverse way of instilling values, discipline, and beliefs apart from what we're born into, as well as their compassionate way of teaching on how to pour one's heart and genuine passion for everything that you chose to do.

To all educators around the world, you deserve to be recognized and treated with utmost respect. May you continue inspiring and shaping young minds into professionals that they're meant to be, and to never get tired of showing dedication and grit in your noble profession. 💝
