A teacher in Matina, Davao City was recently summoned to the barangay hall following a dispute over a student’s final grade of 79.

According to a report, the student’s mother filed the complaint after expressing frustration over the teacher’s grading.

The teacher explained that the student’s original grade was 73, and she raised it to 79 after reviewing the child’s performance in accordance with the school’s grading policies.

The mother, however, questioned the system and insisted on a formal review, citing the Child Protection Policy as justification for her complaint.

The disagreement escalated, leading to the teacher being called to the barangay for mediation.

The teacher later expressed how the situation affected her both professionally and emotionally.

She then shared her disappointment with her students, emphasizing the importance of trust between teachers and parents, and how such conflicts can demoralize educators.

Meanwhile, the mother stood by her actions, insisting she was only advocating for her child’s welfare and transparency in grading.
