Catbalogan City, Samar โ€“ The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Samar Provincial Office participated in the Samar Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Caravan held on April 28โ€“29, 2026 at Abanador Hall, Camp General Vicente R. Lukban, Maulong, Catbalogan City, Samar.

Organized by the 801st Infantry Brigade in partnership with the Provincial Government of Samar, national government agencies, and civil society organizations, the caravan aimed to bring government services closer to Former Rebels (FRs), Friends Rescued, and insurgents undergoing reintegration into mainstream society through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

As one of the participating agencies, DTI Samar provided information on its programs and services that support livelihood and entrepreneurship development. The office also conducted an Entrepreneurship Orientation for attendees, introducing basic concepts on entrepreneurship, business opportunities, and available assistance that can help beneficiaries start or improve small livelihood activities as part of their reintegration and recovery.

The activity forms part of the governmentโ€™s Whole of Nation Approach under Executive Order No. 70, which promotes inclusive peace and sustainable development through the convergence of government services and support programs.

Other participating agencies included the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), PhilHealth, Samar Provincial Hospital, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO), and other partner agencies.

Through initiatives like this, DTI Samar continues to support inclusive development by empowering communities through entrepreneurship, livelihood opportunities, and access to government services.

Catbalogan City, Samar โ€“ The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through Negosyo Center Calbiga, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Calbiga, successfully conducted the โ€œPAHOY WEAVERS: Innovative Nito Crafting and Heritage Branding Trainingโ€ on May 7โ€“9, 2026 at the Spark Visitor Center, Calbiga, Samar.

The three day training gathered participants from four associations who aspire to become basket weavers, providing them with skills enhancement in innovative nito crafting, product development, and heritage branding while preserving the municipalityโ€™s rich weaving culture and traditions.

Engr. Meilou C. Macabare, DTI Samar Provincial Director, expressed her appreciation for the strong partnership between DTI and the Local Government Unit of Calbiga in supporting local artisans and cultural industries.

Municipal Administrator Yen P. Nacario shared the municipalityโ€™s vision of developing a heritage brand centered on the identity of โ€œPahoy Pahoy,โ€ encouraging participants to continue improving their craft and grow into empowered and progressive artisans.

The training proper was facilitated by experienced nito artisans from Tagapul an, Samar led by Etelyn Madolaria, together with assistant trainers Lodencia Giray and Gina Liray. Participants actively engaged in hands on sessions focused on weaving techniques, innovation, finishing, and product enhancement.

The activity concluded with the presentation of participantsโ€™ outputs and the awarding of certificates in recognition of their dedication and active participation throughout the training.

Through initiatives like this, DTI Samar and the Municipality of Calbiga continue to strengthen local creative industries by preserving traditional craftsmanship, promoting cultural identity, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the community.
