JUST IN|| In a heartwarming gathering; Cebu Eastern College's, passionate development communication students and Dean, Dr. Ruth Mercado, visited the DSWD 7 AVRC II at Camomot-Franza Rd. in Labangon, Cebu City. the Devcomm Department was so grateful as they welcomed by the dedicated social worker who took them around to dear surrounding area.

Before the immersive event, the compassionate social worker educated the captivated group about AVRC and its huge impact on helping disabled people. The social worker's session revealed the organization's commitment to creating opportunities and empowering people with disabilities.

The approaching Lihok Juan Documentaries Festival makes this collaboration honorable. This program, based on the Development Communication Department's inspiring 'Battle of Relationships' theme, has the potential to deepen understanding among devcomm students and society at large. This project shares the stories and observations of disabled people to change attitudes and challenge cultural obstacles, fostering acceptance and empathy. This initiative aims to dispel stereotypes and promote equal opportunity and respect for all by displaying the perseverance, talents, and aspirations of people with disabilities.

This amazing partnership affects disabled people beyond filmmaking. Empowering them to share their stories, open hearts, and break down barriers. This shared experience helps devcomm students learn, empathize, and alter society to be more inclusive.

UPDATE | The unfolding of the reality of the Cebuano culture is the core purpose of the annual celebration of Lihok Juan Documentary Film Festival of the Department of Development Communication. Through films formulated by the teams of filmmakers, a variety of themes are forged to showcase every Juan's life.

As it enters its eighth year, the groundbreaking Lihok Juan shows no signs of slowing down and continues to capture the diversity of Cebuano living. This year's celebration circles on the Sugboanons' life highlighting their stories of either positive or negative transitioning with the theme, "Sa Lain'ng Panid".

Sa Lain'ng Panid is a Cebuano phrase, in English "on other page". The theme aims to showcase the new page of Cebuano lives after facing various struggles leading them to development; an escalating or de-escalating development. Simply, it is a man's journey to his own transitioning process. From the kind of life he once lived to the life he has acquired now.

The aforementioned film festival is set to be held on 10 June, 2023, Saturday at the Research Center of Cebu Eastern College.
