WHERE'S THE RECEIPT?

Real Talk: You Can’t Fool a Goat Raiser with Slaughter-Ready Prices

For several days, a goat dispersal program from a local province has been making the rounds on our feeds, especially across different 'AGRI' pages.

Why Livestock Dispersal Programs in the Philippines Keep Failing?

Let’s be real—it’s not always a scam, but it’s also not working the way it should.

The idea is simple: give animals to farmers, let them reproduce, and pass the benefits forward. On paper, it sounds like a sustainable way to fight poverty.

But in reality?
• Animals are given without proper support (feeds, vet care, housing)

• Wrong beneficiaries are selected (sometimes due to politics)

• Monitoring is weak—no real accountability

• Farmers sell or lose the animals before they reproduce, with personal consumption acting as a last resort during times of hunger

• Livestock takes time, and disease can wipe everything out

So the system breaks.
This isn’t just corruption—it’s a flawed model at scale.

You can’t solve a complex livestock business with a simple “giveaway” approach.

Until there’s full support, accountability, and the right people handling the animals… failure will keep repeating.

We’ve seen it before, heard about it, or are familiar with it—and some have even experienced actual dispersal programs in other provinces. For example, the capital is ₱2,250,000 for 150 heads (15k each), if my math is correct. The budget for this is just one example of where our taxes go.

If you know, you know. Looking at the breeds, some are the lowest-tier crosses, or worse, just native breeds. Overall, these are livestock ready for slaughter in the eyes of many breeders and even simple backyard farmers. In a 'mata-mata' (visual) trade, these goats would only cost between ₱2,500 and ₱5,000 for the larger ones. You can’t fool a breeder; you can’t fool a true goat raiser. What a massive kickback!

Low quality and not breeding material. Period.

SU-IK ang 1M kapin oi pero naay programa na pakita sa publiko, haha.

GREED brings out the worst in people.

my 2 cents ~
