Calling all dog lovers in Cebu! 🐾

The DSWD 7 - Central Visayas' Angel Pets Program is opening its second batch of temperament testing this coming May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II (AVRC), Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

If you’re a proud fur parent of any breed and have ever dreamed of your dog becoming a doctor dog, this is your chance to be part of something truly meaningful.

Let your pets bring comfort, joy, and healing to others through this inspiring program.

Second batch for Angel Pets' application is now open. Screening is scheduled on May 15, 2026 from 9 AM until 5 PM, at the DSWD Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center Office in Labangon, Cebu City.

No prior certification or advanced training required! Your dog simply needs to:

✔️ Enjoy being around people
✔️ Be spayed/neutered (kapon) [disqualified automatically if unfixed - for strict compliance]
✔️ Be at least 2 years old
✔️ Be healthy and has up-to-date on vaccinations
✔️ Have a happy and placid temperament
✔️ Know basic obedience skills
✔️ Pass the Dr. Dog Temperament Testing and Examination

Background:

Early this month, 11 dogs, including 2 of IRO's rescued animals, were tapped as Doctor Dogs for DSWD's therapy program in the region, through the partnership with DSWD Field Office 7 - Central Visayas and Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The expansion of this animal-assisted therapy initiative is geared to improve emotional wellbeing among vulnerable groups.
