JUST IN | The Office of the University President (OUP) issued a memorandum on Monday "suspending the mandatory wearing of official uniforms for all students and employees in all Campuses [of Palawan State University]."
The said directive will take place tomorrow, April 2 until April 30, 2024.
The memorandum adds that employees "are encouraged to wear comfortable, appropriate clothing for work, ensuring [that] their attire remains professional and compliant with CSC Memorandum No. 19, s. 2000 [or the] Rationalized Uniform Policy for Government Employees."
Meanwhile, students are "encouraged to wear comfortable, appropriate clothing for school [following] the existing dress code, except the provision for wearing official uniforms."
The said memorandum concluded that the University President "reserves the right to reinstate the mandatory wearing of official uniforms should weather conditions return to normal before the end of April 2024, or extend the suspension when further necessary."
This memorandum came during the exacerbating heat season, "considering the health and comfort of employees and students at this time."
As of this writing, Puerto Princesa will continue to experience an excessive heat index of over 40 degrees Celsius, which can cause heat exhaustion and worse, heat stroke.
