As the semester ends, the ELS Department would like to express its commendation for the remarkable participation of our program's lone delegate during the 47th YMCA National Congress of College Students and 27th YMCA National Campus Club Advisers Seminar Workshop, held from December 6 to 9, 2025, in Baguio City.

Congratulations, Ms. Angelica Tugade, for being elected as the Secretary of Commission 1 and for representing the College in the Extemporaneous Speaking Competition!

With her active participation, Ms. Tugade was also nominated for Outstanding Delegate.

𝐀𝐄𝐌 𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐈𝐈

The 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐬 (AEM) successfully held its annual event, 𝐀𝐄𝐌 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, last 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, at the 𝐂𝐍𝐒𝐂 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭. The event featured four remarkable and insightful lectures that highlighted diverse aspects of 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆, 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, and 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

The first lecture began with the topic “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬,” delivered by 𝑴𝒔. 𝑬𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒈, an international speaker from Korea. She discussed the powerful Word of God and its connection to language, emphasizing its significance in the Bible and its influence on communication and understanding.

This was followed by “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲,” delivered by 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑽. 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒓, Head of the Culture and Performing Arts Unit (CPAU). He explored the parts and structure of spoken word poetry, providing valuable insights that greatly benefited students who pursue the art of poetry and performance.

Next was “𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐲,” delivered by 𝑴𝒔. 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂 𝑩𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒂 𝑬𝒎𝒂𝒂𝒔, an instructor from the ELS Department. She discussed essential techniques in crafting a well-structured essay, emphasizing clarity of content and the importance of the Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.

The final lecture, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠,” was delivered by 𝑴𝒔. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒆 𝑰. 𝑱𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒐, Program Chairperson of the ELS Department and the organization’s adviser. She highlighted effective strategies for speaking confidently before an audience, including the use of proper gestures, voice control, and techniques for delivering messages with clarity, confidence, and conciseness.

In addition to the lectures, AEM also organized competitions such as 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡, which took place on the same day. These activities showcased students’ skills, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.

The event also featured fun-filled interactive games that added excitement and joy, making the entire celebration more engaging and memorable. These activities fostered camaraderie, strengthened bonds among students, and contributed to a wholesome and enriching experience for everyone involved.

With the ongoing Search for the 7th CNSC President, we would like to share the timely reflections of our dearest Ma'am Elsa T. Manlangit, who is about to retire from government service next week.

Through her message, Ma'am Elise hopes that our students and alumni in the AB ELS program can be moved to do something for the CNSC-College of Arts and Sciences. ❤️
