Bulwark Joins DACS Advocacy Group Meeting: Charting the Path for the Laudato Si’ Congress and Festival
Today, Bulwark CEO Dennis Villegas, together with BOT Chair Dr. Ma. Iris Melliza and Deputy Manilee R.Araune joined a meaningful and productive meeting of the Advocacy Group of the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS), held at the DACS Office in Juna, Davao City. Presided over by Sir Jimmilou dela Vega, the gathering brought together passionate education leaders and advocates united by a shared mission: to advance environmental stewardship and bring the teachings of Laudato Si’ to life across the region’s academic community.
A key highlight of the session was Dennis’ presentation of the full concept plan for the upcoming Laudato Si’ Congress and Festival, set to be held in November 2026 — a landmark celebration marking 10 years since Pope Francis issued his heartfelt call to care for our common home. The plan outlined a meaningful gathering to showcase best practices, exchange ideas, and turn shared values into tangible action, building on the longstanding environmental initiatives DACS schools have already embedded in their curriculum and daily operations.
Joining this important discussion were representatives from Davao’s leading Catholic educational institutions: Dra. Cora Umblero from the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), Mr. McCoy Samante from Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), Dra. Jeralyn Palero from Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC),Mr. Remark Mortalla from San Pedro College and representatives from Assumption College and Holy Cross of Sasa. Working together, the group carefully deliberated and agreed on key details: the official dates for the event’s launching, the main Congress, and the grand Festival, as well as viable modes of fundraising to ensure the initiative’s success and wide reach.
Bulwark expresses its deepest gratitude to the entire DACS Advocacy Group for their overwhelming support, shared vision, and wholehearted commitment to this noble cause. This meeting was more than just planning — it was a powerful reminder that when institutions come together for the good of our people and our planet, we can turn words into action, and a shared call into a lasting legacy of care for creation.

Bulwark Receives Full Support of Archbishop Valles for Transformative Laudato Si’ Initiative
What a truly blessed day for Bulwark! Members of Bulwark’s Management Team, led by CEO Dennis, gathered for a meaningful and heartening meeting with His Excellency Romulo Valles, Archbishop of Davao, at the Bishop’s Palace along Torres Street, Davao City. Joining the team to share in this important discussion were BOT President and Chair Dr. Ma. Iris Melliza and Deputy Manilee Araune, who joined in presenting and advancing the organization’s meaningful vision.
During the gathering, the team shared their inspiring plan for the Laudato Si’ Congress and Festival—a special celebration marking 10 years since the release of the groundbreaking encyclical. They outlined their goal to bring together private and public educational institutions to exchange valuable best practices, identify key challenges in environmental stewardship, and work together to develop practical, sustainable solutions for our communities and our shared home.
Archbishop Valles warmly embraced the initiative and offered wise guidance to make it even more impactful. He recommended including model parishes as key partners in implementing Laudato Si’ programs, and emphasized the importance of close coordination with the Archdiocesan Social Action and DAYCA—especially since the event is primarily designed as a platform to engage, empower, and inspire young people to lead positive change.
Bulwark feels deeply honored and blessed to have such noble and visionary leadership standing firmly behind this cause. The Archbishop’s wholehearted support, shared passion for our environment, and heartfelt prayers for the event’s success have filled the entire team with renewed hope and strong motivation. With such generous backing, the Laudato Si’ Congress and Festival is set to become a powerful force for good, inspiring communities and young minds to care for our world and build a more sustainable, compassionate future for all.
