Born on October 28, 1970, Allan Peter Cayetano has served as senator, congressman, cabinet secretary, and Speaker of the House of Representatives. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1993 and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1997.
Cayetano first won a seat in the Senate in 2007, receiving 11,787,679 votes and placing ninth nationwide. He was reelected in 2013 with 17,580,813 votes, ranking third, and returned to the Senate in 2022 after garnering 19,295,314 votes, placing seventh overall.
In 2019, he was elected as the representative of the Taguig-Pateros congressional district, receiving 81,243 votes and finishing first in the race.
Among the notable laws and measures associated with Cayetano are the UP Charter and the Iskolar ng Bayan Act, which expanded educational opportunities for deserving students, the 10-Year Passport Validity Act, which extended the validity of Philippine passports to ten years, and the Magna Carta for Barangay Health Workers, which recognizes and provides benefits to community health workers.
Through his work as a lawyer and legislator, Allan Peter Cayetano has contributed to various reforms in education, healthcare, and public service, making him one of the prominent political figures in contemporary Philippine politics.
