READ the BIBLE
"12 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God." - John 1:12-13 CSB
RECEIVE the BREAD
John begins his Gospel by declaring that although many rejected Christ, God graciously received those who believed in Him. Salvation is not earned by human effort or inherited by family heritage—it is God's sovereign work of grace. Through faith in Christ, sinners are adopted into God's family and given the glorious privilege of becoming His children.
1. The RECEPTION of God's Children (v. 12)
Those who "received" Christ are those who believed in His name, trusting Him alone as Lord and Savior. Faith is not merely intellectual agreement but wholehearted dependence upon Christ.
Jesus is the eternal Son of God who came to save sinners. Everyone who trusts in Him is graciously adopted into God's family and receives all the privileges of being His child.
2. The REGENERATION of God's Children (v. 13)
Believers become God's children not by natural birth, human effort, or personal decision alone, but by the sovereign work of God. Spiritual life is a gift of divine grace.
Our salvation rests entirely upon God's regenerating grace. Because Christ died and rose again, the Holy Spirit gives new life to all whom the Father has chosen, enabling them to believe and follow Christ.
Conclusion
Becoming a child of God is the greatest privilege anyone can receive. It is founded entirely upon God's grace and accomplished through Christ alone. Therefore, let us rejoice in our adoption, rest in God's sovereign love, and live as faithful sons and daughters who reflect our Heavenly Father.
Reflection Question
Are we trusting in our own heritage and efforts, or have we received Christ by faith and rejoiced in the gracious gift of becoming a child of God?

READ the BIBLE
"Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our God. May the LORD fulfill all your requests." - Psalm 20:5 CSB
RECEIVE the BREAD
Psalm 20 is a prayer of confidence before battle. God's people rejoice because their hope rests not in themselves but in the Lord who saves. This hope is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our victorious King.
1. The CELEBRATION of Salvation (v. 5a)
God's people rejoice in His saving power, not in human strength. Our greatest joy is found in Christ, who has secured our salvation through His death and resurrection.
2. The CONFIDENCE in Sovereignty (v. 5b)
God's people raise their banner in His name and trust Him to answer their prayers. Likewise, we confidently depend on God's sovereign will, knowing Christ reigns over every circumstance.
Conclusion
Because Christ is our victorious King, we rejoice in His salvation and trust Him in every battle of life.
Reflection Question
Is our confidence in our own strength, or in Christ, our victorious Savior?
