Our Story

GSSA or the Gubat Sorsogon Surfer's Association, Inc. is a surfing FAMILY. Our story started in the summer of 2008 with the very first surfers of Gubat. Composed of the local groms and “kuyas” of the area, whose purpose is to instill the values of education, self-development, and community by providing positive mentorship and a place of support. All this is made possible through our shared love for surfing and the ocean. Formed in 2013, and officially SEC-registered in 2016, we built a COMMUNITY through partnerships with Buenavista Surf Camp, the locals, and through the vast network of like-minded surfers / organizations of our great island-nation. Our main source of funding is provided by the Surf Lesson Program, surf industry sponsorships, and by our founders who have devoted all their time, finances, and heart to this vision.
