Today, June 12, 2026, the nation commemorates the 128th Philippine Independence Day, honoring the courage, sacrifices, and patriotism of the heroes who fought for the country’s freedom.

After more than 300 years of Spanish colonial rule, the date marks the historic proclamation of Philippine independence by Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898.

As the country celebrates its independence, the occasion reminds every Filipino that freedom is not merely a chapter in history but a continuing responsibility. By preserving the truth, upholding democratic values, and working toward a just and progressive society, we keep alive the spirit of independence that our ancestors fought for and passed on to future generations.
