Super Typhoon (BAVI)

SUPER TYPHOON BAVI OUTSIDE THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY IS NOW NAMED βINDAYβ AS WIND SIGNAL NO. 1 IS NOW HOISTED OVER SEVERAL AREAS IN CAGAYAN PROVINCE.
β’ Location of Center (10:00 PM)
The center of the eye of Super Typhoon INDAY was estimated based on all available data at 1,545 km East of Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (16.8Β°N, 136.2Β°E).
β’ Intensity
Maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 230 km/h, and central pressure of 930 hPa.
β’ Present Movement
Westward at 30 km/h
β’ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 900 km from the center

Heavy Rainfall Outlook
Refer to Weather Advisory No. 6 issued at 11:00 PM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to TC INDAY and the Southwest Monsoon.
Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.
β’ Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.
The highest Wind Signal that may be hoisted throughout INDAYβs passage is Wind Signal No. 2 or 3.
The enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of Super Typhoon INDAY will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
β’ Today: Most of Mindanao.
β’ Tomorrow (08 July): Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, most of MIMAROPA, most of Bicol Region, most of Visayas, and most of Mindanao.
β’ Thursday (09 July): Most of the country.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
A Gale Warning will be issued by tomorrow (08 July) morning or afternoon over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.
24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
β’ Up to 4.0 m: The southeastern seaboard of Isabela; the northern seaboard of Aurora; the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands, Surigao del Sur; the eastern and southern seaboards of Davao Oriental
β’ Up to 3.5 m: The eastern seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan, Albay, and Sorsogon; the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes; the remaining seaboard of Isabela.
β’ Up to 3.0 m: The remaining seaboard of Aurora; the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands; the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
β’ Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
β’ Up to 2.5 m: The northern seaboard of mainland Quezon; the remaining seaboards of Batanes and Cagayan.
β’ Up to 2.0 m: The southern seaboards of Southern Leyte and Bohol; the western seaboard of Surigao del Norte; the western seaboard of Kalayaan Islands.
β’ Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
β’ It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the forecast confidence cone. Refer to βOther Hazards affecting Land Areasβ for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
β’ INDAY is forecast to move generally west northwestward and will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow (08 July) early morning. It will then turn northwestward while remaining over the Philippine Sea and will be nearest to Extreme Northern Luzon by Friday (10 July) before heading towards the north of Taiwan.
β’ INDAY will maintain its strength as super typhoon until Thursday (09 July), and will downgrade into a typhoon by Thursday afternoon or evening. Afterwards, it will gradually weaken. Nevertheless, it will likely remain a typhoon throughout the remaining forecast period.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
