Courtesy Visit to Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan

July 22, 2025| The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission Sulu( BHRC SPO) conducted a courtesy visit to Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan to extend their well wishes on his recent assumption to office. During the meeting, the BHRC SPO provided a brief update on the human rights situation in Sulu. The discussion also touched on the province's exclusion from the BARMM, where the Vice Governor gave reassurance that no one will be left behind. He also presented the proposed design of the soon-to-be-constructed, state-of-the-art Sulu Hall of Justice which is a testament to his commitment to human rights, justice, rule of law, and development in the province.

The 𝐁𝐇𝐑𝐂-𝐒𝐏𝐎’𝐬 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧 officially opened with Human Rights Education on Transitional Justice for Right Holders, bringing together participants from Darul Ifta Sulu, M**F, Bangsamoro Development Agency, and Timbangan Women Association.

The program was warmly hosted by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐓. 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐦j𝐚, Administrative Officer II as the emcee, with an invocation led by 𝐌𝐫. J𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐒. 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐢, Administrative Aide II. The event was formally opened with remarks from 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐈𝐛𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐔. 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢, Provincial Director.

The highlight of the activity are the lectures from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢 and 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢 on Basic Human Rights and Transitional Justice respectively.

The day concluded with closing remarks from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐛 𝐆. 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐠, Safety Officer, marking a strong start to a meaningful six-day journey of learning, reflection, and advocacy.

To close the 6-day Human Rights Caravan, BHRC Sulu held a session on the right of suffrage with youth and community representatives from civil society organizations—Indajinis Cultural Association, Pangutaran Youth Leaders League, and Omar Youth for Peace and Development among others.

The program began with an invocation from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐝j𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐝j𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢, Administrative Aide III, and was hosted by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐦j𝐚, Administrative Officer II.

Lectures were delivered by 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐈𝐛𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐔. 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢, Provincial Director, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐤𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢, Special Investigator IV, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐔. 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐛, Special Investigator III, highlighting not just the legal importance of suffrage—but how informed, active participation can help build stronger, more inclusive communities

The session ended with a message from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐛 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐠, Safety Officer, encouraging the participants to carry forward what they learned and take part in shaping a better future through informed choices.
