Courtesy Visit to Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan
July 22, 2025| The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission Sulu( BHRC SPO) conducted a courtesy visit to Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan to extend their well wishes on his recent assumption to office. During the meeting, the BHRC SPO provided a brief update on the human rights situation in Sulu. The discussion also touched on the province's exclusion from the BARMM, where the Vice Governor gave reassurance that no one will be left behind. He also presented the proposed design of the soon-to-be-constructed, state-of-the-art Sulu Hall of Justice which is a testament to his commitment to human rights, justice, rule of law, and development in the province.

The ๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐โ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง officially opened with Human Rights Education on Transitional Justice for Right Holders, bringing together participants from Darul Ifta Sulu, M**F, Bangsamoro Development Agency, and Timbangan Women Association.
The program was warmly hosted by ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐. ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ก๐๐ฆj๐, Administrative Officer II as the emcee, with an invocation led by ๐๐ซ. J๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐๐ซ ๐. ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข, Administrative Aide II. The event was formally opened with remarks from ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ฌ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฅ ๐. ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ข, Provincial Director.
The highlight of the activity are the lectures from ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข and ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ข on Basic Human Rights and Transitional Justice respectively.
The day concluded with closing remarks from ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ , Safety Officer, marking a strong start to a meaningful six-day journey of learning, reflection, and advocacy.

To close the 6-day Human Rights Caravan, BHRC Sulu held a session on the right of suffrage with youth and community representatives from civil society organizationsโIndajinis Cultural Association, Pangutaran Youth Leaders League, and Omar Youth for Peace and Development among others.
The program began with an invocation from ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐j๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐j๐๐ข๐ง๐ข, Administrative Aide III, and was hosted by ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ก๐๐ฆj๐, Administrative Officer II.
Lectures were delivered by ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ฌ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฅ ๐. ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ข, Provincial Director, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ค๐ก๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข, Special Investigator IV, and ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐ฆ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ก๐๐, Special Investigator III, highlighting not just the legal importance of suffrageโbut how informed, active participation can help build stronger, more inclusive communities
The session ended with a message from ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ , Safety Officer, encouraging the participants to carry forward what they learned and take part in shaping a better future through informed choices.
