From October 6 to 10, 2025, the Coastal Barangay Maritime Responder Basic Training was successfully conducted, focusing on life-saving skills and emergency response. The training was led by the Philippine Coast Guard, maritime personnel, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). Participants included EMT trainees, GTC alumni, GEMS alumni, and responders from Barangay Tulay BPAT and Barangay Takut-Takut BPAT. Over the five-day course, they were trained on how to perform CPR, manage injured casualties, respond to incident scenarios, properly untie rescue ropes, and apply disaster risk management principles. They also practiced water rescue techniques, including how to save a victim in the water and basic swimming skills for maritime emergencies. The training aimed to strengthen the preparedness and capacity of coastal responders to effectively respond to emergencies in their communities.

They were also received with open arms by the Philippine Red Cross - Sulu Chapter, led by OIC Sir Al-Nizar Mihadun, RN, EMT!

This visit marked the start of a strong partnership as we prepare for the trainees' upcoming OJT-RLE! With the support of our barangays and PRC-Sulu, our future EMTs are now more ready and inspired to face real-life emergency response situations!
