Tumanggap ng libreng medical supplies ang barangay government ng Bulolsalo --- balwarte ng mag-kasanib na indigenous people at mga settlers --- sa Kiblawan, Davao del Sur mula sa Sagittarius Mines Incorporated (SMI) nitong Biyernes ng nakalipas lang na linggo, July 3.

Mismong mga local executives sa Kiblawan, isang upland municipality sa Davao del Sur, ang nag-ulat nitong Huwebes, July 9, ng pagtanggap ng Barangay Bulolsalo government, mula sa SMI, ng mga gamot para sa ibat-ibang mga karamdaman at iba pang mga essential medical supplies para sa mga residenteng may mga problema sa kalusugan.

Matagal ng may mga humanitarian programs ang SMI para sa mga ethnic Blaan at settler communities sa Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, ayon mismo kay Kiblawan Vice Mayor Joel Calma at kanyang mga constituent-Blaan tribal leaders sa kanilang bayan.

Ayon kina Vice Mayor Calma at mga barangay officials sa Bulolsalo at sa registered nurse na si Jerome Rex Santos na kawani ng Department of Health-Region 11 na naka-destino sa naturang barangay, mismong mga kawani ng SMI, isa sa kanila si Nelsie Distura, ang naghatid ng mga gamot at medical supplies sa Bulolsalo nitong July 3.

Ayon kay Barangay Bulolsalo Chairman Toto Bague, labis ang hirap na dinaranas ng kanyang mga sakop na may mga karamdaman na tumungo sa sentro ng Kiblawan upang magpagamot dahil sa layo nito sa kanilang kinaroroonan.

Sa mga hiwalay na pahayag ngayong Huwebes, July 9, nagpasalamat sina Vice Mayor Calma, ang nurse na si Santos at si Barangay Chairman Bague sa ayudang mga gamot at medical supplies na ibinigay ng SMI sa Bulolsalo barangay government na laan para sa mga residente ng barangay na nangangailangan. MGA HINDI NA REHISTRADONG MAGSASAKA DAPAT SAMANTALAHIN ANG PAGPAPATALA SA PAMAHALAAN

KIDAPAWAN CITY - HINIHIKAYAT ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Kidapawan City ang lahat ng mga hindi pa rehistradong magsasaka na magpatala na para sa makakuha ng prayoridad sa mga programa ng pamahalaan.

Partikular na pinananawagan dito ang pagpaparehistro sa Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) at National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS).

Malaking pakinabang ito sa mga magsasaka para makatanggap ng tulong sakahan mula sa mga kinauukulan. Sakop ng RSBSA ang mga rice, corn, vegetable, fruit farmers at iba pa pati na mga fisherfolks habang sakop naman ng NCFRS ang mga magsasaka ng niyog.

Manggagaling ang mga tulong mula sa Department of Agriculture para sa RSBSA habang makukuha naman ang tulong ng mga nagparehistro sa NCFRS mula naman sa Philippine Coconut Authority.

Ma*****na plants in Agusan del Sur uprooted

Soldiers, policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 13 together uprooted 23,431 ma*****na shrubs, costing P6 million, in a joint operation in Barangay Kasapa 1 in Loreto town Agusan del Sur on Saturday, July 4.

Local executives in Agusan del Sur told reporters on Monday that the PDEA 13, units of the Agusan del Sur Provincial Police Office and the 60th Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division embarked on the operation together after villagers and traditional community leaders in Loreto reported having discovered a ma*****na farm in Sitio Bunlak in Barangay Kasapa in the municipality.

Among the tipsters who provided information about the two-hectare ma*****na farm are former members of the now defunct New People’s Army, who had returned to the fold in recent years and are now thriving as farmers in different barangays in Loreto and in nearby towns.

Army Major Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th ID, said on Monday that personnel of their 60th IB, PDEA 13 agents and operatives and forensic experts from different units of PRO 13 and the Agusan del Sur provincial police command, had uprooted 23,431 ma*****na shrubs during the operation, assisted by municipal and barangay officials.

Armed men guarding the ma*****na farm managed to run away when they noticed soldiers, policemen and PDEA 13 agents approaching their location from two directions.

Local executives and members of the multi-sector Agusan del Sur Provincial Peace and Order Council had separately told reporters that the PDEA 13 agents and the policemen and soldiers involved in the operation immediately set on fire the uprooted ma*****na shrubs after collecting samples to be used as evidence in prosecuting the people behind its propagation for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
