The story of the prodigal son reveals different hearts in broken relationshipsβthe rebellious son, the receiving father, and the resentful brother. The prodigal son valued inheritance more than intimacy, pursued pleasure over the fatherβs presence, and chose independence. But restoration began when he recognized his condition, returned home, and sincerely repented. True restoration always starts with humility and repentance.
The father showed the heart of God through patience, compassion, and forgiveness. He waited, watched, and welcomed his son back with open arms. In contrast, the resentful brother allowed bitterness, jealousy, unforgiveness, and comparison to grow in his heart, damaging fellowship and joy. This story reminds us that God desires not only restored relationships with Him, but also hearts free from resentment and full of grace. π€π
