LLORENTE, Eastern Samar โ The Municipal Tourism Council (MTC) and the Local Culture and Arts Council (LCAC) convened a joint meeting on May 12, 2026, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall. The meeting brought together key representatives from the local government, academe, civil society organizations (CSOs), local artists, and private groups to review updates and chart strategic initiatives for tourism, culture, heritage, and the arts.
The meeting gained added significance with the presence of Mayor Christine Cardona and Vice-Mayor Jonnie Condrada, who both expressed their profound appreciation to all council members for their unwavering support for the LGUโs tourism and cultural affairs or initiatives.
After a thorough discussion of pressing concerns, the joint council adopted the following resolutions and directives:
1. Approval of the Manual of Operation of Project B.E.A.C.H or Bacayawan Marine Eco-park and Conservation Hub. The council acknowledged the need to revisit the approved Manual of Operation regarding the manpower complement manning the marine-eco park site to meet the expected income of the eco-park once operational.
2. Determination of carrying capacity for the eco-park and of the entire cove to maintain and preserve it's ecosystem by partnering with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) or DENR
3. Forge a possible Public-Private Partnership arrangement with the landowner of the property adjacent to the Marine-Eco Park for tourism-related concerns
4. Launch of โRecuerdo de Honorโ Cultural Mapping Project
In a historic move to safeguard Llorenteโs collective memory, the council approved the Tourism Officeโs proposed project, the โRecuerdo de Honor ; Pagtipig han mga Legasiya han Bungto", a Cultural Mapping Project and a municipal-wide drive to conduct a systematic inventory and safekeeping of the townโs relics, heirlooms, documents, and heritage structures. The project seeks to gather or identify at least 30-50 authentic Lanangnon relics or cultural properties within 6 years through community donation drives and systematic inventory. To jumpstart the project, a total of 6 cultural properties of the municipality were recognized by the council through the following approved resolutions for endorsement to the Sangguniang Bayan;
* Resolution identifying and recognizing the "Mayor Pablo B. Bandilla Memorial Sports Complex" and the "Mayor Antonio G. Cardona Building" as Municipal Tangible Immovable Cultural Properties, endorsing their inclusion in the Local Cultural Inventory (LCI) as part of the Recuerdo de Honor: A Cultural Mapping Project of Llorente, Eastern Samar, and enlisting the same into the Philippine Registry of Cultural Property (PRECUP) of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA);
*Resolution identifying and recognizing "Municipal Form Nos. 25 โ REGISTER OF MARRIAGE (1913 to 1937); Municipal Form Nos. 26 โ REGISTER OF BIRTH-Book 1 (1913 to August 1925) and REGISTER OF BIRTH-Book 2 (part of 1929 to some part of 1937); and Municipal Form Nos. 27 โ REGISTER OF DEATH (1913 to 1936)" as Municipal Tangible Movable Cultural Properties, endorsing their inclusion in the Local Cultural Inventory (LCI) as part of the Recuerdo de Honor: A Cultural Mapping Project of the municipality and enlisting the same into the Philippine Registry of Cultural Property (PRECUP) of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
*Resolution enacting the establishment, day-to-day operations, and regulatory framework of Project B.E.A.C.H. or Bacayawan Marine Eco-park and Conservation Hub as a local economic enterprise of the Municipality of Llorente, Eastern Samar;
Vice-Mayor Jonnie Condrada, who also serves as presiding officer of the Sangguniang Bayan, assured the tourism councils that the Sangguniang Bayan will act with haste and wisdom on the resolutions approved by the tourism councils en banc.
Mayor Christine Cardona lauded the councilโs dedication, stating: โWe do not only hold our positions as local officials, we are also the guardians of Llorenteโs identity. The LGU is the vessel, but we are the heart. We see the benefits our community will get out of the project for future generations to come, and we commit to providing the resources to match this passion to harmonizing our programs with preserving our heritage, history and culture. We will look for more ways to align this project with the rest of equally important programs of the LGU also.โ
Sis Ma. Gemma Navidad of MINSAC, representing the CSO of LCAC , commended the municipal government for this project, adding โ Maupayi ine, orog kay maki kultura iton Llorente, makitipig iton mga tawo dinhe , especially the elders of the community.โ
The joint meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all sectors to advance a model of tourism that respects nature, honors heritage, and empowers the people of Llorente.

๐ฟ๐๐จ๐๐ค๐ซ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฃ๐-๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ ๐๐จ๐ก๐๐ฃ๐: Where the Sea Tells Its Story
There exists, just beyond the coastline of our quiet town of Llorente, a sliver of land where the world slows to the rhythm of the tides. Mina-anod Island is not a place of grand promenades or neon lights. It is, instead, a sanctuary stitched together by the gold of the morning sun, the gentle whisper of the waves, and the generous spirit of its people. When you step onto its shores, you arrive not as a mere tourist, but as a welcome guest in a living, breathing coastal home.
Positioned not quiet far from the mainland, this emerging tourist destination offers an experience that feels both expansive and intimately personal. The sea is the heart of life here, dictating the dayโs possibilities and painting a horizon that stretches into shades of turquoise and deep blue. For the solo traveler chasing the first light of dawn, a family seeking a gentle shore, or a diver eager to meet the vibrant creatures of the deep, our island waits with open arms.
Your days here are defined by natureโs simple gifts. We invite you to glide across calm waters by boat, explore coral beauties teeming with life underneath the sea, or simply float weightlessly where the ocean kisses the sky. If stillness calls instead, its uncrowded shorelines are a canvas for barefoot wanderings, where the only marks upon the sand will be your own. When evening comes, you will find rest in its homegrown resorts, each with its own character and charm: Shining Pearl Beach Resort, Roshara Beach Resort, and Pailigon Beach. Their doors are open, and their caretakers are ready to welcome you.
Your journey to this paradise begins in Barangay Soong, Llorente. From there, a brief boat ride of five (5) to seven (7) minutes carries you over gentle waves. Local boats run daily from six in the morning until six in the evening, though the sea is our true timekeeperโall transfers depend on the generosity of high tide. We suggest chartering a tricycle from the town center or your hotel to reach the docking point, and always, always consulting the tide schedule before you travel.
For those who wish to truly soak in the rhythm of the island, we recommend a stay of three (3) days and two (2) nights. Allow the first day to be a slow exhale: settle into your chosen resort, feel the afternoon sun on your skin, and watch the sky transform into a masterpiece of color from a beachfront hut. Dedicate your second day to adventureโ boating, swimming, or divingโand eat where the locals eat. On your final morning, take one last swim, nurse a cup of fresh coffee by the shore, and pack not only your belongings but the memory of salt and serenity to carry home.
And when hunger finds you, the ocean will provide. We urge you not to miss the "Ihaw-Ihaw" experience, a humble yet unforgettable local flair. Here, you may select a fish still glistening from the sea, caught just hours before by our local fishermen, and have it grilled simply over open coals. The taste is pure, honest, and deeply satisfying. Some resort, too, will offer meals of local flavor, and we always encourage you to confirm any meal packages upon booking.
We believe a journey here should be accessible, and your budget will travel far. As of this posting, the entrance fee (per barangay regulation) is a modest five pesos per person, a small contribution toward the conservation of this fragile beauty. The public boat fare from Soong to the island is fifteen pesos per person or thirty pesos vice-versa. Cottage rentals range from six hundred (Php600.00) to one thousand pesos (Php1,000.00) a day, and for those wishing to charter a private boat for inter-island exploration, we invite you to inquire directly at the docking area or from the locals.
For the most accurate and timely guidance, we, the Llorente Tourism Information and Assistance Center, are your dedicated lifeline. You will find us on the first level of the Municipal Hall, and directly message us on Facebook at . For resort bookings, you can connect directly to the resortโs individual pages, while the islandโs history and soul are lovingly guarded by the barangay officials of the island, and the elders who hold their stories.
This island is more than a destination; it is a community. We invite you to speak with the fishermen mending their nets at dawn, wave to the children whose laughter rings across the shore, and listen with an open heart to the tales our elders tell. In doing so, you become part of our Lanangnon story.
We ask only that you visit with respect. Bring reef-safe sunscreen to protect our corals and cash, for the island holds no automated teller machines. Sturdy aqua shoes will serve you well on the rocky and coral-strewn paths. Take nothing from the sea but photographs, and leave nothing behind but footprints in the sand and memories to keep.
While Mina-anod welcomes you in every season, the calmest seas and bluest skies are found from March through the dry months of July. Even so, tides change and seasons shift. This guide is written with the latest knowledge we hold as of April 2026, but we encourage you to reach out to us directly for the most current details on amenities, room rates, and tour availability.
Pack your bags and bring your sense of wonder. Come home to the sea.
We will see you at Mina-anod Island, where the waves, the community, and natureโs beauty are one!

There is a silence that falls over our town during Holy Week. The bustle of the sea slows, the market stills, and the only sound that echoes through the streets of Llorente and its surrounding barangays is the faint rustle of footsteps and the murmur of prayers. This is the walk of faith.
This 2026, as we observe the most sacred days of the year, we invite you not just to visit churches, but to embark on a complete pilgrimage. To trace the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) not just in your heart, but through the hallowed grounds of Llorenteโfrom the historic mother church to the humble chapels in our villages where faith burns just as bright. Here is your guide to a powerful Visita Iglesia across our municipality.

๐ป๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: St. Anthony of Padua Parish
Begin your journey where faith took root. Standing since 1851, the St. Anthony of Padua Parish is more than a structure; it is the mother church of Llorente's soul .
As you step onto Real Street, look up. Let the facade of our mother church speak to you. See how it is adorned with fluted pilasters that have withstood the test of time and typhoons . But look closerโat the two bell towers standing guard. Both are a sturdy, four-level bastion of the past. They are different, yet they stand together, a powerful metaphor for our own faith: tradition and the present, standing side by side in worship. Pause here under the image of St. Anthony holding the Child Jesus. Touch the walls that have held generations of prayers. Pray for the strength to rise after your own falls, and for the humility to carry your cross.
๐ป๐๐ ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:
Barangay San Miguel Archangel Chapel to San Isidro Labrador in Soong
Leaving the town proper, your pilgrimage takes you deeper into the heart of Llorente. In Barangay San Miguel and Soong, you will find simple yet sacred chapels that serve as the spiritual heart of this community . These are not grand chapels , but quiet sanctuaries nestled among homes and families. They stand as a testament that God dwells not only in stone temples, but in the hearts of His people. Here, the faithful gather not just on Sundays, but in times of joy and sorrow, their prayers rising like incense from a humble altar.
๐๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ
Light a candle for your own family and for all the families of Llorente. Pray for the mothers, the fathers, and the childrenโthat they may always find compassion and strength in their community of faith.

๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:
The Nuestra Senora Dela Paz y Buen Viaje Chapel
Continue your journey toward the outskirts, following the path that winds through the upstreams. In Barangay Antipolo, you will encounter the Nuestra Senora Dela Paz y Buen Viaje Chapel, a sacred space situated near the heart of village life . This church, standing close to the Antipolo Elementary School, has witnessed generations of children taking their first steps in faith . It represents the helping hands along our journey. It is a reminder that faith is not a solitary walk, but a path walked together, supporting one another.
๐๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ
Pray for the teachers, the volunteers, and all those who quietly serve others. Ask for the grace to accept help when you need it, and the generosity to offer it to others.
๐ป๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐:
Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel in Barangay Naubay (A Place for Reflection)
This chapel has long been a place of communal gathering and reflection . Consider this your fifth stopโa moment to step away from the structured walls and into the "garden" of your own heart.
Tradition tells us that Jesus turned to the women of Jerusalem and told them to weep not for Him, but for themselves and their children. Here, by the quiet spaces of the chapel, look out over the landscape that God has blessed. See the community, the school, the homes . This is what we are called to protect with our faith.
๐๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ
Let the breeze carry your prayers for the youth, for the next generation. Pray for the strength to leave behind a legacy of faith for your children and your children's children.
๐ป๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐:
The San Roque Chapel and Our Lady of Fatima Chapel
From Naubay, take a short journey to San Roque Chapel in Barangay San Roque and our Lady of Fatima in Barangay Bacayawan. They sit quietly at the intersection of the national highway - a spiritual waypoint for travelers. Etched on large glazed glass, are the ultimate symbols of our redemption - the cross and the holy eucharist.
๐๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ
This is the moment of surrender. Look upon the Holy Father and the etched cross in the glass . Pray for the grace to let go of your own burdens, to trust completely in God's plan, and to surrender your heart completely to him.
A Visita Iglesia is not a race to visit most churches. It is a pilgrimage to visit the stations of Christ's passion within ourselves. Whether you kneel in the centuries-old St. Anthony of Padua Parish or sit in quiet reflection by a humble barangay chapel, the true church is built in the heart of the believer.
As you travel the road of our hometown this Holy Week, let every kilometer be a prayer, and every chapel, a station of grace.

Llorente Gears Up for a Collaborative 2026 Town Fiesta: Unity and Tradition at the Forefront of Planning
LLORENTE, Eastern Samar โ In a spirited display of community unity and forward-looking planning, the municipal government, under the leadership of Mayor Christine M. Cardona, officially commenced preparations for the much-anticipated 2026 Llorente Town Fiesta, slated for June 13.
A comprehensive planning and coordination meeting was held recently at the Municipal SB Session Hall, bringing together the key pillars of the community to chart the course for this yearโs celebration. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Cardona, with the esteemed presence of the Hermana Mayor 2026, Mrs. Encarnacion Gillo-Alde, and Rev. Fr. Dale Perez, parish priest of Llorente. The session was marked by the full and active participation of all department heads and functionaries of the Local Government Unit and of partner NGAs, and church organization ensuring a whole-of-government approach to the festivities.
Mayor Cardona, in her opening remarks, emphasized the dual significance of the fiesta. "Our town fiesta is more than just a celebration; it is a vibrant testament to our shared faith, our rich culture, and our resilient spirit as Llorentehanons. This early and collaborative planning signifies our commitment to deliver a fiesta that honors our traditions while creating joyful and safe experiences for every resident and our visiting guests."
This year's Hermana Mayor, Mrs. Encarnacion Gillo-Alde, graciously expressed her vision for a celebration that strengthens community bonds. "I am deeply honored to serve as Hermana Mayor for our 2026 fiesta. I look forward to working with everyoneโthe LGU, our parish, and every community groupโto weave a celebration that reflects our family's gratitude for all the blessings received; and with everyone's cooperation we aim for the successful conduct of the festivities," Mrs. Alde stated. She was joined by Mr. Apolinario John A. Bocar who expressed appreciation for the support of the hermana mayor's family for the fiesta activities, adding, "The family will abide by the EXECOM's suggestions, and the extent of support or participation shall be decided upon by the family in terms of activity prizes, vesper night dance and church affairs."
The meeting followed a structured agenda aimed at building a successful and memorable event. Key outcomes included:
ยท The formal reorganization of the Fiesta Executive Committee (EXECOM) 2026, with LGU officials headed by Mayor Christine Cardona as Chairman, Mrs. Encarnacio Gillo-Alde , Co-chairman; VM Jonnie Condrada-Vice Chairman (Internal Affairs) & Rev Fr. Dale Perez (External Affairs) and with the department heads expected to taking lead roles in various standing committees for fiesta activities, peace and order, sanitation, and finance.
ยท A constructive review of the 2025 fiesta was facilitated by Antonio C.Bormate,Jr. - Municipal Administrator, where successes were celebrated and lessons identified to enhance this yearโs activities.
ยท Preliminary identification of core fiesta activities for 2026, balancing religious observances, cultural presentations, sports competitions, trade fairs, and the proposed flagship tourism activity - SARANDA festival. Rev. Fr. Dale Perez, & Mr. Onofre Gongon, Vice-chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council provided valuable insights to ensure the spiritual core of the fiesta remains vibrant.
