“INDAY” SLIGHTLY WEAKENS AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA.

➣ Location of Center (10:00 AM):
The center of the eye of Typhoon INDAY was estimated based on all available data at 865 km East of Northern Luzon (18.4°N, 129.8°E).

➣ Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 205 km/h, and central pressure of 945 hPa.

➣ Present Movement:
Northwestward at 15 km/h

➣ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 870 km from the center

OTHER HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS

➣ Heavy Rainfall Outlook

➣ Severe Winds

The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.

• Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2.
• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of Typhoon INDAY will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

• Today until Saturday (11 July): Most of the country.

HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS

➣ 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook

Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 6.0 m: The seaboard of Batanes; the northern and eastern seaboards of Babuyan Islands; the northeastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan.
• Up to 5.0 m: The remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan and Babuyan Islands; the seaboard of Isabela.
• Up to 4.5 m: The seaboards of Aurora and Camarines Norte; the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes; the eastern seaboard of Northern Samar; the northeastern seaboard of Eastern Samar; the northern seaboard of Ilocos Norte.
• Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.

Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 4.0 m: The northern seaboards of mainland Quezon and Northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Albay, Sorsogon, Dinagat Islands, Bucas Grande-Siargao Islands, and Davao Oriental; the remaining eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar.
• Up to 3.5 m: The eastern seaboard of Surigao del Sur; the southern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Catanduanes.
• Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels.

Up to moderate to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 3.0 m: The seaboard of Kalayaan Islands; the western seaboard of northern Palawan.
• Up to 2.5 m: The western seaboards of Bataan and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands; the remaining western seaboard of Palawan.
• Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Zambales, Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, Romblon, Masbate, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Caluya Islands, Negros Occidental, Southern Leyte, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin; the remaining seaboards of Palawan, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte including Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the western seaboards of Pangasinan, Cavite, and Batangas; the southern seaboards of Oriental Mindoro, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Bohol, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi; the northern seaboard of Zamboanga del Norte
• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK

• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
• INDAY is forecast to generally move northwestward while remaining over the Philippine Sea and may pass closest to Extreme Northern Luzon between tomorrow (10 July) evening and Saturday (11 July) morning. Afterwards, INDAY will move toward the southern islands of Japan and may make landfall or pass close over the northern coast of Taiwan. It will then exit the PAR by Saturday (11 July) morning or afternoon and make landfall over the eastern coast of mainland China by Saturday evening or Sunday (12 July) early morning.
• INDAY is forecast to remain as a typhoon until it exits the PAR. It will then weaken into a severe tropical storm after moving further inland over mainland China.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
