Negosyo Center Magallanes conducted its monthly price monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) and construction supplies on March 10, 2026, in selected business establishments within the municipality of Magallanes, Agusan del Norte. The activity aims to ensure that prices of essential goods remain fair and within the suggested retail prices for the protection of consumers.

Among the establishments monitored were Baug CARP Beneficiaries Multipurpose Cooperative, D Pab’s Commercial, and Ramjequo Construction and Supply. The monitoring helps the government track the movement of prices and ensure that businesses follow the proper pricing guidelines.

The activity also comes amid global developments, particularly the tension in the Middle East that has affected oil supply routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. Despite the increase in fuel prices, the Department of Trade and Industry assured the public that most BNPC items remain stable, with around 91% of monitored products not having approved price increases as of March 2026.

Business establishments are reminded to follow the provisions of the Republic Act No. 7581 and Presidential Decree No. 1865, which prohibit practices such as profiteering, hoarding of goods, and unauthorized price increases. Violations may result in penalties including fines, imprisonment, and possible cancellation of business permits.

Magallanes, Agusan del Norte – January 9, 2026 — Negosyo Center Magallanes conducted its first monthly price monitoring activity for the year 2026 on January 9, covering Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities, as well as construction supplies within the municipality of Magallanes. The activity was spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Norte through Negosyo Center Magallanes.

Among the monitored establishments were Baug CARP Beneficiaries Multipurpose Cooperative, EJ’s Grocery Store, D Pab’s Commercial, and Ramjequo Construction and Supply. The monitoring team checked whether the prices of goods being sold were aligned with the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) set by the government, ensuring compliance with existing price regulations.

The regular conduct of price monitoring plays a vital role in ensuring the availability of essential goods at fair and reasonable prices. Through this activity, DTI is able to closely monitor price movements, prevent unjustified price increases, and protect consumers from possible overpricing, especially during periods of market instability or increased demand.

Negosyo Center Magallanes remains committed to the continuous conduct of monthly price monitoring as part of its mandate to promote consumer welfare and safeguard the interests of the buying public. Through sustained monitoring, information dissemination, and coordination with local stakeholders, Negosyo Center Magallanes strengthens its efforts to promote transparency, fair trade practices, and a stable marketplace in the municipality of Magallanes.

The findings will be forwarded to the Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Protection Division (CPD) for review and proper action.
