Microsoft Says Human Agency Is the AI Advantage

In Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index, “Agents, human agency, and the opportunity for every organization,” Microsoft explains that as AI and agents take on more ex*****on, people gain more agency — more room to direct work, make decisions, check quality, and own outcomes.

The report is based on Microsoft’s analysis of anonymized Microsoft 365 productivity signals and a survey of 20,000 workers using AI across 10 countries.
