The National Power Corporation inks a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SunSmart Solar Power Technology, Inc. for the exploration and development of sustainable energy solutions in the off-grid areas, particularly in NPC’s Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) service areas.

With the MOU, both parties shall work on promoting hybrid power systems and expanding rural electrification in the country through the conduct of site-specific feasibility studies, improvement of data availability on unserved and underserved areas, and building institutional capacity for microgrid planning, among others.

NPC President and CEO Fernando Martin Y. Roxas welcomed the partnership and expressed gratitude in having the opportunity to tap the private sector’s resources to hasten its renewable energy programs in the off-grid.

“We are fortunate to have this partnership that will help us to do things in the shortest possible time,” President Roxas said. Likewise, SunSmart Chairman and CEO William Che Hon Ngai and President Jenny Lin Maaño thanked NPC for allowing them to help advance the country’s economic goals through renewable energy.

SunSmart, an all-renewable energy company, is an emerging provider of breakthrough technology of integrated solar, hybrid mini grids, and smart street lighting systems readily integrated with Artificial Intelligence of Things (AloT).
