THE FIFTH Group Exhibit
About the artist :
David Edward Carriedo Kaufman is a Filipino-American contemporary artist, entrepreneur, and founder of Kaufman Stone. Having built a successful career in natural stone and architecture, he has developed an artistic practice that reflects his deep appreciation for material, texture, and craftsmanship. He studied at the De La SalleβCollege of Saint Benilde and later pursued postgraduate studies at Keble College, Oxford. While initially recognized for figurative and street-inspired paintings, Kaufman has continued to expand his artistic language through experimentation with unconventional materials and abstract expression.
For The Fifth, Kaufman unveils a new body of abstract works created with chocolate, coffee, and acrylic. Drawing from his lifelong relationship with natural materials, the series explores texture as both surface and substance. Layers of coffee and chocolate create rich, earthy tones that evoke weathered stone, shifting landscapes, and the passage of time, while acrylic adds depth and structure. Rather than depicting a specific scene, these paintings invite viewers to discover their own narratives through movement, color, and tactile complexity. The collection marks another step in Kaufman's evolving practiceβone that transforms humble, organic materials into expressive works of contemporary abstraction.
The exhibition continues until June 30, 2026, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors in the days ahead.
